I just checked the tracking number and it seems that it arrived at Chicago Lockbox on 4/21 at 11:54 AM Chicago time. Yet, it is now 4/24 and still no notification. Can anyone think of why they wouldn't have emailed me? Is there a chance that I screwed something up?

It's great that it arrived! I think it is still too early to worry. I sent mine from Chile on 11 Apr and it was received 14 Apr and I got my NOA1 on the 17th. That is a Monday to a Thursday.

According to your dates, they received it on a Friday and probably didn't do anything until Monday. I would at least wait until next Monday. I have a feeling you'll be the email today or tomorrow, based on other timelines. They've only had a few business days.

Actually, I sent it on a Friday (18) and they received it on a Monday (21) and now it is Friday again. Still no word. I checked my US Bank account online and nothing at all about the check is showing up. I wish I had scanned the check before sending it so I could make sure I didn't do something wrong.

Thanks for the support though. I guess I will just wait a little longer. Maybe I should call USCIS next Monday if nothing by then?

I think you have to be patient and wait for reply. be positive, if you haven't heard in 30 days then you need to call USCIS hot linehttps://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/CaseStatus/BucketDescriptions.do#1

Hey everyone! Currently im going to be filing for my husband who lives overseas in Pakistan and wanted to know how this process works. Im waiting for my naturalization interview and oath ceremony so I can finally apply (which will be all completed in a couple of weeks). Meanwhile Im trying to work on getting my paperwork ready. Are K3 visa options still available? I called a couple of people/lawyers and most said K3's are rare now. Also Is it true the California service center is quicker in the processing? What's the timeline like now for processing waits? A couple of people I know who had filed last year have gotten their N02s in 10-11 months :crying: . Not sure if I can deal with that. Is this still the case? Freaking out here cause I truly am missing my husband. Crossing fingers that the case times are less now. I live in new York so Im not sure which lockbox I have to send my application to? Also at the moment I do not work so can I include 2 joint sponsors? Any information to help me through this process would be helpful, thanks everyone!

Well… I just got NoA1. Routed to California Service Center! If the current trend is any indication, I may have a nice, fast NoA2. Here’s hoping! Thanks everyone who re-assured me that everything was going to be OK!

EDIT: @Faizanbeba143, I’ll try to answer a few of your questions. I just sent my application last Friday and got NoA1 as you can see above, so I am not as knowledgeable as some people…

Everyone tells me K3s are pretty much not issued anymore and that trying for one is just a wasted effort.

California seems to be the fastest from what I have seen from people posting and checking timelines. Texas also seems to be pretty quick. I think Nebraska looks the slowest. Vermont just seems rare(?)

Yes, some petitions of people that are being approved even now have been pending for as long as 10 months or more. However, I have been noticing faster cases overall. It seems that the system has been improving over the last few months. They do seem to be giving some quicker times to people filing from overseas though so I don’t know how fast you will go if filing from New York.

As for sponsors, I didn’t use one. I don’t think that sponsors are even an issue until you get NoA2 so you will have some time to think about that. (Someone please provide more info on sponsors because I honestly don’t even know much about it yet and am still wondering if I should even use one after NoA2)

I hope that helps answer some of your questions.

first I advice you to have an appointment in the nearest post office for your passport application, after your naturalization ceremony go home and have a copy of your naturalization certificate. because if u file an application for passport there u would have to wait till it comes with your naturalization cert that would gibe u another month of waiting till ur able to apply a petition for your husband. second I think k3 is closed, take i-130 petition instead. third we can't choose where they will forward your petition application,it depends on them whether to nsc, CSC, tsc, vsc etc.fourth is CSC has a trend nowadays for quick approvals only for those filling from abroad.USCIS says average processing is 5 months( I wonder whoever believes that) http://www.uscis.gov/i-130 follow instructions here. about joint sponsors it is most welcome.

Oh by the way, I want to enter my NoA1 in my timeline. I received the email at about 2:30 PM Japan time but that would still be before midnight in the US. Today in Japan is 4/25. Should I put the NoA1 as 4/24, 4/25, or is it actually the date my package arrived at USCIS which would be 4/21? The actual email does not have a specific date listed in the body anywhere.

Sorry for the confusion.

Filing our I-130 on Monday morning - weirdly can't wait to kick off this process! I have it all mapped out and I'm obtaining documents ahead of schedule so when we get to NVC, I can just ship out a completed package the same day.

I was initially a little bit confused over the DS-260 and DS-261 because the CR1 complete guide on the wiki here started to talk about printing the DS260 out and sending it with your documents, and filling out a different form in place of the DS-261 to elect your agent... I noted that that guide was from 2008 though so I'm guessing it's just outdated?

I have it as complete both of those online on the CEAC's site, print the barcode sheet and send it along with the IV documents... is that right?

Good luck to everyone on this thread. It's an exhaustive process, and no matter how stressful it gets, just remember what you're working towards when you touch down and meet your loved one.

Now chronicling my experience in handy blog format at
