Yeah, I agree with you. Thankfully though, things do seem to be going a little faster after the most recent process update (the fees increased, but oh well). That sounds like a good plan. Check your AOS many, many times and make sure you get the right line from your tax return/transcript. Do not leave anything blank, just write N/A. Oh, also if you try to log in to the CEAC site as soon as you get the welcome email (I know, I tried this) it will say your case is in process of termination. Do not panic, it means it's not available yet. Takes a few hours.

how much did the price increase. So on the USCIS fees are inaccurate.

Sorry to hear things didn't work out as planned for you both. But as you said, at least you'll now be tigether as a family very, very soon. Best of luck on your new journey! I pray we hear something soon!

Lynn n Sam it is actualy a bit scary... we wanted to leave Canada to give our son a best life... while Canada is a prety nice country, Québec (the province I live in) is prety closed minded, especialy toward english people... we hope we can make it works. I really hope you will hear something soon... what the hell is wrong with Vermont??? did you do anything else to try to get answers?

I'm so sorry to hear this. At least you have a viable way for your family to be together, even if it's not what you initially wanted. Isn't there any chance that your husband can go live with you for a few months to a year while this nonsense visa stuff happens (you could delay it at NVC for up to a year) and then you both go back to America? Best of luck in whatever you choose to do, I'm happy your family is going to be reunited very soon. :)

We actualy think about it. It is in the realm of possibilities... we are just so bummed out. I hope it didnt damage our familiy really... as for you and your wife I am happy to see things are moving forward!!! I hope you will be together soon :D

The fees on the USCIS site should be accurate! It's $125 (AOS) + $325 (IV)... before September 12 it used to be 80 for AOS and something around 260 for IV. :( Oh well!

Sorry, it's $120 for the AOS, so $445 total. The police certificate you need to gather now, as everything is sent to NVC with the IV package - so yes, he should send original police/marriage/birth certificates to you (and divorce/military records if applicable). You can read about the process here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents.html

we had rfe on aos too, they wanted exact amount till the last cent based on tax report and to add up the computer doesn't print the box where u thick us citizen, I think that was part of trick where monitor with show u thick box but the doesn't print it the way it is. this was so frustrating for us we thought we could spend our first Christmas and Hubby's birthday together but as usual USCIS and nvc never fail to disappoint us with the long waiting time.... hang in there everyone

The NVC asks for either a record of military service or an exemption in their list of forms.

In France, the military service is not mandatory and so in our case we don't have neither military records nor exemption papers.

Should I say that this military service record they ask for is non applicable?

I'm scared to get an RFE for a paper that does not exist...

If the government doesn't issue any paper like this, I would definitely write a letter explaining why this paper doesn't exist and add it to the IV package to be sure. I think with this you should be okay. :)

(I mean, I'm sure they deal with cases from France all the time and know about this, but just in case you get a picky adjudicator or something... you could also try to find other French people on here and ask, I'm sure they'll know better.)

Um, no no no no no, NVC requires originals or certified copies for everything! What they mean by certified copy is a re-issue of the original document by the appropriate authority (for example, we ordered an extra marriage certificate from the City Clerk in NY).

A copy isn't good enough. You must submit a certified copy with a seal or an original. We sent the original & our IV packet was accepted. Good luck!
