Thank you I know & I feel badly even complaining about a check list.....just a long, stressful process. I hope you hear something positive soon!!

Aww I'm sorry you've received a checklist. That really sux on top of all the time you've already waited. I really wish I understood the order (or non-order) of how things work in this frustrating process. Some people have breezed through so quickly and here we and counicoune are, plus how many others - still waiting on NOA2 since April! Ugh Good luck with the rest of your journey and here's hoping there are no more bumps in the road and all goes smoothly!

Just wanted to check back in with you guys. I'm happy to see movement for most of you and I wish you all the best of luck. I was an April I-130 filer and I got approved very quickly (with a group of other petitioner's who sent in their paperwork from outside the US) and I just got my case complete from the NVC yesterday. (All my scan date are below)

There is light at the end of the tunnel and there is a whole community here to support you. Stay positive, be meticulous, and hope for the best.

Best of luck to everyone!

Hello everyone,

When I got tired of waiting I sent a letter to my state senator to request their help to shorten the processing time as much as possible. There were special online forms that I could print and mail to both senators so it seems they are used to help citizens with immigration issues.

I don't know if it worked but I got my NVC case number today! (2 weeks after I sent the letter)

For those who have been waiting more than 5 months for their NOA2 there is a form on the USCIS website to complain. (I think I posted the link in this thread a while ago)
And for those who have been waiting for more than 30 days since their NOA2 without news from the NVC, there are instructions on the NOA2 form to file a complaint via email.

I did both (since I'm half French I never fail to complain :) ) and this seemed to move things both times.

There is no guaranty any of those works of course but I feel better doing something however insignificant, don't you?

Hi everyone. After a 20-day wait from the day we paid the fees, all the stars aligned and we were finally able to mail out our AOS and IV packages yesterday.

We lost some time I guess, but I took all the extra steps with the supporting documents and legalization procedures to try and make sure we get everything right the first time around. We also checked about a billion times every field and number in the AOS, which I suggest everyone does because so many people get checklists there.

At this point I'm kind of 'glad' there's nothing to do now but wait again. I hope we didn't miss anything and everything goes smoothly from here. My wife is visiting for three weeks so these next 60 days should go by extra fast. :) Good luck to everyone, particularly those still waiting...

I am looking through the list of supporting documents and I have a question.

Do you know what is the difference between an IRS tax transcript and a Federal Income Tax Return?
I thought both referred to the form 1040 so it don't understand why both are listed...

Return Transcript

Tax Return Transcripts show most line items from your tax return (Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ) as it was originally filed, including any accompanying forms and schedules. This transcript does not reflect any changes you, your representative or the IRS made after you filed your return. In many cases, a Return Transcript will meet the requirements of lending institutions offering mortgages and student loans.

Hi everyone

We got approval for both I-130 and I-129F after 5 months on Sept 3rd and we got case number for I-129F on October 6th. When my husband called up NVC, they said they will cancel I-129F and process I-130 (which we were kind of expecting). But we have not received case number for I-130 yet and NVC says it takes them 25 business days to receive the case from USCIS and another 25 days business days to assign case number to I-130. Its just really frustrating and all this while there's no progress, no processing can be done until case number is assigned.

Just wanted to know whether it took so much time for others? I see from few timelines, that some did not had to wait so long for case number.

All the best to everyone and hopefully people who are still waiting for approval will get approved soon.

I've been at the NVC since July. We JUST heard from the NVC two days ago & received a checklist because my lawyer didn't include my W2 with my full 1040 Tax return. Sooooo We are resubmitting the entire AOS packet & including the W2. One stupid error (not even mine since i have a lawyer) cost me 2 more months before getting a CC. Then it's 1-2 months after that to get the physical & interview. Make sure you are double & triple checking everything. I didn't because of the lawyer even tho I harassed him with emails whenever i heard of someone getting a checklist. Be prepared to wait some more & be patient. We are kind of helpless in this situation because it rests in the hands of the NVC. Good luck to you & everyone else.

I have a second question:

Now that the NVC procedure has changed, do you need to send the OAS files and the IV files together?

Yes, they should be sent together (they seem pretty insistent on this now). Also: if you get tax transcripts from the IRS (you can order them online), you don't need your W-2s or 1040s or any other documents. If you send the tax returns (forms 1040X), then you DO need the W-2s. You should read the instructions on the NVC website, they're pretty clear :)http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Step_4_Collect_Financial_Documents.html

Relevant quote from that section (check their website though because they have more links and information!):

If you completed Form I-864, I-864A, or I-864EZ submit an IRS tax transcript from the most recent tax year.

If you cannot obtain an IRS tax transcript: If you are unable to obtain an IRS tax transcript, submit a photocopy of your IRS Federal Income Tax Returns and Form(s) W-2 or schedule(s) from the most recent tax year.

Well we sent my entire tax transcript, front to back and they still asked for a W2 in the checklist. My lawyer said it didn't make sense because it said in the instructions that the W2 wasn't needed. Soooooo I'm not the first of many who have gotten a checklist because of something that went against their instructions. I think it's better to be safe than sorry as I was really surprised by the checklist as was my lawyer.

Nope the entire transcript. Sorry it's been a long 3 days. I'm tired. I sent my entire tax transcript. Now we are resending & including my W2 which seems redundant because they have everything. The NVC likes to make things up I swear. That's why my lawyer was confused because he didn't read anywhere he had to include the W2
