The way I understood it. A lock box accepts your application and forward it to a random service center or to the closest service center where the applicant, in this case your husband, lives. It is like a sorting department. My husband is from Illinois. His closest lock box is Chicago so he submitted it there. I think certain states are assigned to certain lock boxes, but I am not 100% sure.

I dont understand? what is the Chicago lock box if your file was treated in VT?

Hi guys I'm a new to visa Journey ... I also file I-130 in April this year 2014 .. got my noa1 2 weeks later and I'm still waiting for my approval from the Nebraska service center

I would probably be happy to be transferred out of Nebraska bc at least then id know it's been touched.

I did read yest on Igors list that 4 March ppl got approved so were getting closer.

Hi patnjac, it's been a while. So yours didn't get transferred then? I see that your PD is 4/8, so I guess they really only transferred the first week of April then. I hope this means things will be faster for everyone... the last two weeks of February were transferred out of NSC last month and now the last week of March and the first of April too so if anything you should be right after!

Yeah, I thought/hoped it would be faster but at this rate I expect it to take another 4 to 5 months from approval until the actual interview date.

I expect, if everything goes well (which is not and understatement) to be with my husband in April 2015... hopefully before our son 2nd birthday which is, ironically the day we sent our file.

I think that's very reasonable. You're at VSC so I wouldn't expect the crazy delays that have been happening at NSC. I've seen enough by now to not try and make too many plans, but if things go well I hope to make it there by the end of February for our anniversary (which would be about 11 months from the time we filed).

If your 5 months or whatever is supposed to be the processing time is up, make sure to open a service request. They are forced to take action if you open a service request while if you don't open one, your file may sit in a corner gathering dust for another 2-3 months.

Call them and open a service request because it is impossible to open one till the stats get updated which takes yet another couple months on top of the processing time.

It's too soon to place a service request. You have to be more than 5 months out and correct me if I'm wrong here VJers, but I believe one must wait 30 days after the processing time has been surpassed before a service call can be placed. My 5 months will be up around September 10th either way.
