That's pretty fast for NOA2! I guess what you do now is wait for a notice, read the guide, it tells you how to accelerate the process by filling stuff in advance.

Thanks! I hope everything goes smoothly althrough out the whole process :)

I applied for a petition for my wife with form I-130 to the Phoenix, AZ office on March 31, 2014; the form was received on April 4 with a notice date of April 10, 2014. On April 30, 2014 I received an email from USCIS that stated: "Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Nebraska Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number LIN------------. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your case using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status."

Before I filed the I-130 petition I had visited the local office of USCIS and was advised that I might consider also filing form I-129F for my wife however I would need to wait until the I-130 had been accepted and I was notified of acceptance of the petition. The reason I also filed I-129F was that the official at USCIS told me that she thought the process would proceed faster if I filed both petitions.

I filed I-129F on April 16, 2014 to the Dallas, TX USCIS lockbox facility; I enclosed a check for the $340 fee and was surprised that the check was returned with a note on April 28, 2014 that the fee was not required. On April 30, 2014 I received an email from USCIS essentially the same information / different LIN number indicating the I-129F was accepted and routed to the Nebraska service center for processing.

I then registered with the USCIS "My Case Status" webpage and both applications are indicated as "Under Review". On May 15, 2014 I made an appointment and visited the local USCIS office here in Portland, Oregon to ask if there was anything I could or should do to expedite the processing in any way and basically was told just to wait.

My wife is currently living in Costa Rica where she works and is a citizen of Nicaragua; we were married in Nicaragua last December, 2013. My understanding is that she will eventually be interviewed and the visa for her to come to the US will be processed in the US embassy in Managua, Nicaragua. I am planning to visit here in Costa Rica in early September of this year.

We are both relatively patient and actually she wants to complete some additional school that will be finished in October of 2014 before she enters the US to live permanently.

I do have a very basic question after reviewing this site, am I applying for a IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa or am I applying for a K-3 Spouse Visa. Seems like I should know what I am filing for however I have to admit to being confused about this and still do not really understand why I was advised to file both the I-I30 and the I-129F petitions since much of the questions and information is the same on both forms. The instructions on the I-129F form are actually incorrect. What is really the reason for filing both applications for a spousal visa?

Thanks in advance for any answers and / advice on this. Also best wishes to all for smooth processing of your applications.

anyone got their case number already?

I have no idea and this whole thing is freaking me out. Everyone is moving so fast on this forum way under the 5 months they are talking about on the USCIS website. I got my NOA1 7 of april and my case is still under initial review. How is it that everyone go so fast and I am so behind? how come some ppl are already at NVC?

Almost everyone who go theirs fast was at the California Service Center. That's the key here, I think. It looks like that center is just working more quickly than others. You are at the Vermont Center, right? They seem to be moving at a much slower pace. So don't worry -- you have no reason to freak out. You are where you're supposed to be.

Thanks in advance for any answers and / advice on this. Also best wishes to all for smooth processing of your applications.

The reason you were advised to file I-129F is supposedly to speed up the process of getting your spouse here. Because of the backlog and long wait times USCIS "provided" a solution to expedite. In all of the research that I have found, I have not seen where it has really helped. I was told this as well when I called. This is how I reasoned as to whether I would file....How many people is trying to do the same thing? What are my chances of this I-129F being approved any faster than if I just wait out my I-130? If I file the I-129F and it gets approved the cost of that route is more expensive, my husband will not be able to work until after he gets here and file for his green card and EAD {approx. 6-8 months}, he can't travel until after his AP gets approved, and our purpose for filing the I-130 will be defeated. All these were questions I asked myself, and so at this level I have opted to just hang on in there with the I-130 for now and be prepared to submit a letter to different representatives if my petition goes outside the normal processing time. Filing the I-129F along with the I-130 has not proven to me to outweigh just being very patience til the I-130 gets processed. If the I-129F gets approved first it will cancel out the I-130 and that route will be followed.

By the way you are applying for a CR-1 visa since you have not been married for 2 years or more, not a K3 visa which I was told is useless anymore! Hope it helps :)

I did some searching for an April 2014 I-130 filers thread, but I couldn't find one.

Just sent off the I-130 from Santiago, Chile to the Chicago Lockbox on 9 April 2014 and looking to see some other timelines!

I have nearly gone blind reading massive amounts of information to be found on this website and it seems like by May 2014, USCIS is supposed to have a 5 month processing goal to NOA2 for I-130s. Here's hoping it's fast for everyone!

Hi silverjetplane

I just wanted to know how your case is going. I just filed my I 130 at the end of May, and still have not received a receipt notice! It seems a bit strange after seeing others posts who received an email almost immmediately.

Is your visa moving along already?
