Yeah welcome to America !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it sucks

I guess if you really believe it sucks and your sweetie loves you then they'd be willing to go live where you're from?

Or you wouldn't be trying so hard to get in?

One of the things that helps me deal with the transition to america is remembering that it is a country of extremes, if not extremists. I love a lot about this country, have been here off and on for over 10 years and am trying very hard to stay here for good now. My wife is very sympathetic to just how hard it is for me sometimes to come to terms with some of the laws, traditions and extremist views. (rush limbagh, Michael savage anyone? that kind of hate radio is not legal where im from though i guess freedom of speech is a good thing also right?)

What I'm saying is, this is a different country, different culture, and it sometimes catches me by surprise. The level of global awareness/ignorance is astonishing here. But the people can be lovely, nicest you'd ever meet. Martin cruz smith said it best, "Americans are like children,"

God bless the world.

May not be a crime in UK, but it is a traffic offence (misdemeanour) in US and Canada. Since he has a GC, he should have been aware of traffic laws by now.

The article said he was a professor at Tufts. Jaywalking is not a crime in Boston, whatever law against it there is (a $1 fine I believe) has not been enforced in 30 years.

Nor in New York City. Try to do someone for Jaywalking you'd have a riot on your hands.

Compared to the small suburb in LA, where I saw a guy get a $70 for crossing in the middle of the street at 7am on a straight road where you could see as far as the eye could see in either direction (no cars coming). Cop still gave him a ticket for it... As far as applying that particular law goes - its not even common sense.
