My now wife has been here since Sept 2013, married in Oct. We couldnt be happier but, sitting at home is driving her nuts and its hard for everyone =).

Any suggestions for finding that first job in the states? She was a care taker prior to coming to the US for a rich Chinese family and has limited job expierence otherwise.

Anyone living here in El Paso own a business and want to give her a shot lol?

We are planning for her to take some spanish classes soon in the hopes it will increase her chances of getting her foot in the door.

I am thinking of advocating like a headhunter at this point for someone to just give her a damn chance but im not sure that would make her applciation look weaker =|...erg

Anyone else that wants to just vent here about job searching, feel free, its nice to sob together sometimes if you cant find a solution lol.

8/01/2013: Medical at St Luke's PASSED!!!
8/12/2013: INTERVIEW American CO " APPROVED"
8/13/2013: CEAC STATUS - administrative processing

8/15/2013: CEAC STATUS - ISSUED

8/26/2013: received VISA

9/05/2013: POE - GUAM -Flight from MNL to El Paso, TX- BEST DAY EVER =)

10/5/2013: Married!!

11/13/2013: Filed AOS / EAD/ & AP

11/18/2013: NOA1 all

12/12/2013: Biometrics completed

05/27/2014: AOS Interview

05/27/2014: AOS approved Received GC a week later.

10/08/2014: Report of Marriage & Passport Renewal LA Consultate General

... you may want to check into the programs at a local community college and see if they have a course to became an LPN ... then she should be able to find find work ... and quite well paid too.

....or check for CNA courses as well. That is what my wife will be doing when I get her here....

September 28, 2013 -- Married at Ciudad Christa resort in Metro Manila

January 2, 2014 -- NOA1

February 10, 2014 -- NOA2

February 26, 2014 -- Sent to NVC

March 5, 2014 -- Received at NVC

July 8, 2014 -- Appointment at Embassy -- APPROVED!

Start as a CNA at a hospital and then have the hospital help pay for her education.

You can become a Registered Nurse in USA by going to a community college and getting a 2 years degree Associate Degree in Nursing and sit for NCLEX and become RN

If she can get her basic clearances, she can be a babysitter and sign up on care.com, or daycare assistant teacher. she can also work in a nursing home.

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)
