Political Party

I was reading over the N-400, which I am about to file, and saw the question on political organizations. I was a member of major UK political party at one point. However, when I did my I-485, I misread the question, and did not list it as I only considered US organizations, and in all honesty I forgot about my membership.

It was a mainstream party, akin to Democrats.

I intend to put the detail into the N-400, but will it show up as a red flag?

As long as you were not a member of the English Defence League, the British National Party or any other fringe political movement, you ought to be fine. Just list this particular membership in plain terms, and briefly describe your involvement.

That you did not include this information in prior petitions is unlikely to raise red flags since Immigration Officers themselves always verify the information in your N-400 petition at the interview and make revisions, where they see fit, without penalty.

Good luck!

Yep, we're all familiar with the Labour Party. As mainstream as you get... once you get rid of Ed Milliband, that is. B-)

They could get you on Mental Health issues.

Never looked over this new N-400 form to learn if they clarified any of this crazy questions. But see its 20 pages long instead of 10.

Are they still asking if you joined that Nazi party in 1933? Should have been at least 18 years old, which would have made you 99 years old when you applied.

Yes, they are still asking this question, and yes, it is relevant.

I believe you're a naturalised citizen now, correct? A fundamental understanding of the human rights the United States is obliged to uphold by virtue of its membership in various international charters is enough for most to understand why.
