Hi everyone, I am new here but this first post of mine is my friend's problem and she asked me to post it here. I know you guys will help her with this. Thank you in advance.

Here it is.

I've been reading this forum a month ago. I have some questions and hope you can help me. I got my packet 3 yesterday but was confused if i'll write all the countries that ive been to. I've been to Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Taiwan and worked as a caregiver but I can't remember exactly the years that I've been there, I did'nt keep my old passport and don't know where it is now.

My question is, will I be denied entry if I will not write the countries that i've been through? Will the US Embassy check my immigrations records? Second reason why am not planning to write the countries that i've been through is bec I don't know where to get the police certificates. It might be that the year ive been to those places was 1991, 1995 and 1998 respectively.

Thanks for your answers.

If you have been in any one country 6 months or more, or combined countries for a year, I believe you have to get certificates from there. The government tends to know all, and I would not attempt to hide anything from them. Do your best with the dates. Then at least you are being honest. Different members around here should be able to help you figure out where to apply for the police certs. OR you can just take your chances and possibly be delayed when the consulates says you need to produce them at the interview. Just my thoughts but wait for more opinions from the more experienced.

Part of the visa process and later on (if you get a visa) in the adjustment of status process, there will be security checks run on you. One of these is the IBIS check. IBIS, while somewhat elusive in its purpose and scope, is a border-check system. It alerts nations to known threat individuals. We can only assume you are not such a person, but if they can track the movements of elusive individuals, what makes you think they cannot track yours? You have a passport after all - which probably shows most of your movements about the globe, especially if it's the barcoded variety.

Secondly, if you visit USCIS.gov, you will find a list of nations from whom police reports are not required because they are nearly impossible to obtain. I have no idea if any of the nations you have visited are among these. However, I can say that simply not knowing where to get the reports from is not an excuse DOS will accept.

MarianneGrace,

Your friend should provide truthful information with as much detail as she can recall. 'I don't remember' is an acceptable answer if it is a truthful answer.

The US consulates in the countries that she has lived in can tell her how to obtain police reports from those countries. Perhaps the consulate in the country where she is presently living can assist her in that.
