This event was caused by a mental health issue. To make it about someones views on gun control in my opinion is in poor taste.

Come again? Nobody has argued any views on gun control here. And the reasoning is not that the victims would have been shot rather than stabbed if the attack had occurred with a firearm - that's fairly obvious. The reasoning instead is that at least some of the victims in all likelihood would have been dead rather than merely injured had the weapon used been a firearm.
