Is it true (as I was told) that having an RFE actually speeds up the processing of one's application? If so, we wouldn't have worked so damned hard to avoid having one! I'm sorry, but that's just crazy.

It is not crazy, it is an absurd thought. It certainly does add time.... what/who is the source of your info?

YMMV

Don't know where you heard that, but I doubt very much it's true.

There's the delay of time for them having to send you the RFE, then the time for you to reply to the RFE, and then they have to restart processing of your case again.

It would be quicker if they could just work on your case, without interruption, and then forward your approval when completed.

The only way I can make sense of that is that receiving RFE information might cause an adjudicating officer to pick up your case again and try to close it out.

We had an RFE, months ago. Right after we sent back our response (twice), we got transferred to CSC, but since then, our case hasn't been touched in months.

Conditions Removed! Ten-year green card received 6/24/2009. No more USCIS for a very long time.
