Hello everyone. It is very important to study for your civil exam. I know four people that they were in a hurry to send out their application so this way they would get the receipt and their fingerprints notice. They were so happy and when they had received their interview date, they were real happy. THEY WERE SO HAPPY THAT WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR THEIR CIVIL EXAM, THEY HAD FAILED BECAUSED THEY DIDN'NT STUDY. I KNOW ONE PERSON THAT RECEIVED HER GREENCARD BUT WILL NOT SEND OUT THEIR N-400 APPLICATION NOT UNTIL SHE KNOWS HER CIVIL EXAM REAL GOOD. yOU REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT QUESTIONS THEY WILL ASKED. LOT OF THE PEOPLE ARE SO WORRY ABOUT SENDING OUT THEIR APPLICATION THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN STUDY FOR THE EXAM. WHAT I AM SAYING IS YOU SHOULD KNOW THE CIVIL QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU SEND OUT YOUR APPLICATION. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

Er...no, not really. The CIVICS* examination is a memorisation exercise, and the majority of adults perform at their best that is, regurgitate a mass of information that has been committed to memory when such information has been committed very recently. Therefore, attempting this before the four-six month average timeframe it currently takes to process N-400 petitions is a wasteful exercise since this will most likely be forgotten once the examination day arrives.

Panem today, Panem tomorrow, Panem forever...

I have neither legal training nor immigration expertise; all comments posted must therefore be consumed in that vein.

I think that there is ample time to study from the time you submit to the time you get your interview.. Plus ideally you should know some of the answers already. It's like the DMV test. I probably read that book a week before, then it was fresh in my mind and I aced that test. Plus everyone studies differently. Im not arguing that you cant study before you apply, but im saying you dont have to know them all by heart before applying.

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Uh..NO. It is crazy that anyone would wait to send in their N-400 until they have studied for the test. At bio metrics I received a handy guide to study and have been doing so online as well:

Blood, not all people have the same capability as missy if us do. An example: tge older you get the harder it gets to memorize those questions. So please don't call purpose morons without knowing why they couldn't memorize. They might have a legitimate reason.

I don't think anyone was calling "them" a moron..I was calling myself one if I failed it. I am older and it is hard to remember things, but still they are easy questions with easy answers. There is no reason to fail it with all the support out there as well.

Its not that hard and honestly if you sit in front of the TV every night, you have a 1/2 hour to review the questions and answers from the time you file until your interview. Get others in your family to ask you a couple each night. Easey peasey.

My daughter is 22 with ADHD and she's got it down with no problems and trust me - most of the answers were not common knowledge to her

Lol No. I will probably study a week before my interview. I'm sure if I start studying now everything will be gone by the time I have to go to my interview. I rather wait! Besides I heard you get a free guide to study when you go have your fingerprints taken.
