Hello,

I will be filing I-130 for both my parents and I am wondering if my birth certificate translation (done in 2005) is still valid? I mean, the content hasn't changed.

Also, I was under the impression that we need to file I-130 and then apply for adjustment of status I-485, but I'm reading it may be different?? Can someone please clarify for me?

Thank you in advance,

V

Thank you, and I apologize for not responding before.

My parents are outside of the US.

So I understand they only need I-130 to enter, but once they are here, how do they get their resident card? do they apply for adjustment? or is it an automatic thing?

Thank you!! :)

since they are outside the US they will go through the entire process abroad. Once they cross the border, there visa/green card is activated. After it IV fee is payed (usually before departure), they receive the green card in the mail.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...
