VISA Deny because of incorrect birth date

A little background on my case. I arrived in Canada with my paretns in 1979 as a landed immigrant. When my parent filled out the Landed Immigrant form, they've made a mistake on my BOD and therefore is incorrect on my passport as well. As part of the sponsorship submission the NVC request for original birth certificates in which I've provided (Vietnamese Birth Certificate) but they will not approve my VISA because my BOD is not the same on my Canadain Passport. They request I amend my passport before they approve the VISA, which means I have to amend my Landed Immigrant form. I have gone through the process of getting that amend but I am worry it might not get amended because it was my parents who made the mistake. I am still waiting for a response for amending the Landed Immigrant yet. The normal waiting time is 6months and I am onto the 5th. My question/concern here is, if i can not amend my passport is there anything else I can do? Please help.

I had the exact same problem you had,it will get amended,just takes a little while.

Joevegas, Thank you. Your comment is re-assuring and I feel I have some hope. How long did it took you to get an amemdment?

Its been awhile,I think they said it could take up to 8 months...but I think I got it within 2 or 3 months?

If in the worst case they do not approve my request to amend, is there anything else I can do? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

My husband had a similar problem. His parents never got a birth certificate for him and when he applied for one and got it at the NVC stage of our process, it turns out it was one day different from his passport/school documents (birth cert says April 30, all other documents say May 1). I called NVC and they stated that my husband just needed to prepare an affidavit stating that he has known his DOB as May 1 his entire life and that is the date he wishes to keep as his DOB. He submitted this along with his birth certificate and they accepted it. They will always go by the DOB on the passport.

if you send them all the proper documents,you should be good to go...
