Consulate interview without Chest Xray

I Have just received the notification of the consulate interview date, however I will be 32 weeks pregnant by that time. Husband and I are deciding if we should still go ahead with the chest xray, despite the fact that I might not be able to fly to US in time for the delivery.

Does anybody know how would the HK Consulate handle such cases? I read forums from other countries that the Consulate will refuse to interview me simply cos the medical examination is incomplete.

You should e-mail and ask about your situation. I just did my medical yesterday and they will NOT allow you to do a chest xray when you are pregnant.

However, I understand that the consulate doesn't actually see your chest xray (just needs the doc to prove you don't have tuberclosis or something like that) and you will need to bring the xray with you when you enter the US.

I got to do the interview even without the medical (because they pushed forward the interview date, they are flexible about not having done the police cert of medical prior to the interview). It just means though that they CAN'T issue the visa until they've seen everything together. But you don't necessarily have to do things in order.

In your specific circumstance, I would definitely e-mail or call to ask the consulate about the situation.

Thanks relativeways! I inboxed you. One more question, what is the procedure of submitting your medical after the interview? Are they rescheduling you a specific date to go back for submission? Many thanks.

At the interview, they'll give you a blue form. When you get your medical, they said you should get a half envelope. Don't open it (don't open anything I think). You are to send in that half sized envelope in with the blue form and your passport. You hand it into one of the SF express locations, and they will send it into the consulate for you (no delivery charge).

You don't need to send in your chest xray. That's for in the future when you enter the US.

I don't have to return to the consulate again after the interview. But since you've already done your medical, you should be able to pick it up prior to your interview right?

there is a medical waiver bit, the medical exam place will tick a box on the medical form,

and

the Vice-Consul will see it (and yer 32 week pregnant personage)

and

there will be an annotation on yer visa stamp inside the passport about the medical waiver.

Don't fret the x-ray or lack thereof, you'll be fine
