hello kat,

i literally just got my PCC from Pune (maharashtra), even though I live in Canada (my sister did it for me)…Long story..but yes, you fill out all the form and they will call you once or twice and you pay what you have to pay….and then in about 3-4 weeks they will get it for you.

the other option for him is to go to the Passport office in bangalore/Chennai, and get it done that way...

Chennai PSK does not give you the run around like B'lore. You get the PCC from the passport office and thats it. I am glad wife ain't from Bangalore. :-)

update! so hubby got a call around 2pm saying he needs to come down to the police station after 5pm and bring with him his bank statements and phone bills.

530 he arrived at the police station, they made him fill another form, spoke to him asked how long he is in bangalore, how long at his present address and asked why he doesn't know kanada? then he said "what about the fees (there are NONE)" to which hubby said "how much sirji" and he said "whatever you wish" so hubby shelled out another 500rs to this guy and said "this will be delivered to the PSK tomorrow and I can pick up my PCC friday" the guy said "the police commisioner has to sign off then it will go back to PSK so I think its better you wait until Monday to pick up the PCC"

so hopefully this will be done by Monday as he said (and thats why hubby paid 500rs)!

Super Complicated at B'lore. Hope he gets it by Monday and get this done with.

Hello,

just wanted to share what hubby has gone through in Bangalore regarding PCC in case it helps anyone else.

Hubby arrived as PSK (sai arcade) at 845am and asked to enter for PCC (he had booked an appointment for end of april but we didn't want to wait so thought to try walk-in)

The guards would not let him enter, asking why he needs a PCC (for green card purpose), where is the checklist (he asked what checklist they are referring to since the website when he booked his appointment didn't say anything about bringing any letter or checklist). They said they will not let him in without the checklist.

Hubby left and went to take print out of the NVC bar code coversheet and the Mumbai consulate checklist.

Hubby arrives back with printouts and shows them to guard to try to enter again, guard asks why do you need PCC (to submit for my green card), guard asks why are to applying for green card (hubby says to join my wife who is USC living in US and this is the US govt requirement to submit PCC for green card), guard says ok so you are going as a dependent (hubby says no its CR-1 visa to join my spouse not a dependent visa). The guard then asks hubby to write a letter stating all these facts of why he needs PCC, who he is joining in US etc. Hubby writes the letter and FINALLY guard allows him to enter.

Hubby gets a token number and goes to counter A where they take his pic and fingerprint him and he pays 30rs so he can get sms. then he waits 3 hours to get called to counter B (while waiting, he was asking hourly why there is so much delay and they gave bullcrap reason that the file has to transfer from counter A to B but there is no file its just the pic/fingerprints in the computer!)

Counter B asks same questions about why he needs PCC who is he joining in the US etc, they flip through the papers hubby brought (he brought his passport, old passport, marriage cert, NVC barcode sheet, mumbai consulate checklist) says ok now wait to be called for counter C.

waits another 3 hours to get called to Counter C where they again look at the papers and say that the police verification will need to be done and the police will contact him. once the verification is complete he will have to come back to collect the PCC. Hubby asks how many copies can he get and they say don't worry about that now. hubby asks how long will this take and they say the police could call as early as tomorrow but don't give any definite timeline.

so all in all hubby spent 8 hours running around for all this today and nothing really accomplished! Will keep updating as things happen (verification and completion of PCC)

Hi,

I am in my native town and busy in getting paper works done for NVC. Thought u were curious to know abt my experience(Saw ur post on my quote on the thread "Sending PCC to NVC") Thats y i could not reply or share my experience of getting PCC. Finally I got 2 copies of PCC from my regional passport office on the same day i walked in. But I will share my adventurous experience soon in this thread. Hope that may help our VJ Indian beneficiaries.

On the way...... :) :) :)

I am really sorry about your husband's experience in getting PCC @Bangalore. I sincerely hope he gets it on Monday without any more run around.

In Kolkata Passport Office (RPO), my wife got her PCC (2 copies) in under an hour. She did fill in the online form and submitted the fees, and made an appointment. Although she lives in Hyderabad now, her passport was originally issued from Kolkata (where they did a Police Verification at the time of issuing the original passport). So she decided to make a special trip to Kolkata Passport office just to get this PCC business done and also to meet her parents :) :)

I hope you get your Case Completed in April. Best wishes.

So latest update, hubby got an sms on Friday 3pm that the PCC is ready and he should collect it from the PSK. He was in office so he called PSK and they close by 430pm on Fridays so hubby asked if he can collect it on Monday. The guy on the phone said yes on Monday anytime after 930am. Then hubby goes to collect it today and the PSK is closed due to holiday (Tamil New Year). Again delayed!

Hopefully tomorrow he will collect it and FINALLY send in our IV documents to the NVC!

Did your husband get 2 copies of the PCC? I finally got my PCC today and they only gave me 1 copy. The official there refused to give me 2 copies saying that 1 copy is all that I am entitled to. I am certain that most people have got 2 copies from what I have read on VJ. But this rude guy at the PSK just wouldn't listen. Anyway, I hope I can manage with the one I have.

Hubby did get 2 copies with no issues, he asked up front for 2 and then asked again when he went to pick it up and they did issue him 2 copies

No, I am in Mumbai. I was told when I applied that I will get 2 copies. But the guy who issued the PCC insisted that I will get only one and was quite rude about it. In hindsight, I should have argued with him and got him to issue a second copy or have the matter escalated. Anyway, am hoping that I wont have to send the original PCC to NVC. This whole PCC thing has been quite an experience for me.

Yup I don't understand why Bangalore is being such a pain, but figured I would share our experience so that it might help others!

You think Bangalore is a pain ?

My PSK is in Bihar.

My wife is WA born and raised - lived there for 6 years as a couple and were never married in India.

The officer just would not accept my Apostilled WA Marriage Certificate even though India is a signatory to the treaty.

Imagine what that's like to someone who works in Noida and has no way to prove a local address.

Just adding my wife's name to the passport which stupid VJ folk told me to do - just to get a PCC is now delaying the entirety of my process.

If I had just closed my eyes and gone in to get a PCC with my single status - I would have been at an interview before the end of June.

*sigh*

seems you guys are almost the opposite of us....we lived together for 5 years in Pune and Bangalore before finally getting married in India. Now I have had the joy of trying to get the US to accept our marriage certificate since we only have 1 original and 3 "certified copies" from Pune. Just for me to change my name in the US I have to send in multiple copies of our MC (to the social security office, to the BMV for drivers license then to each bank and credit card, to my office etc)

I think regardless of getting married in US or India, this is not an easy process. It seems even in the US they don't know how to deal with my hubby. I was enquiring how he gets a DL when he comes since he has a valid India license and each person I talked to at our BMV has told me something different!

But if you were living together in US, couldn't you have just adjusted your status? Or you had to leave and do the entire CR1 process from India?

I haven't had my interview yet. I have my copy of the PCC with me which I will present when I go for the interview on June 17th. I had sent my IV package without the PCC and had no problem is getting a case complete. Saved me a lot of time.

What stage are you in?
