Sorry I'm not one of those folks that assume that because one of the founders of this country said something 200+ years ago, ........

What do you mean "one founder"... do you need to hear more of their words so you know better how the foundation was laid?

One of the things we often "hear" from Atheists is their rejection of tales and how they cherish facts.

Yet you seem a little dismissive of facts that you might fling to your fairy tales about the founding and the nature of our Gov't.

Jefferson wasn't one of the founders?

Why would it bother me? Texas has an official state flower: Bluebonnet The official state bird is the Northern Mockingbird.

I thought you were a "keep God out of Gov't" type guy.

You highlight a country as an example and now we find they have a cross on their flag....

They have an official Church they no doubt support.

Thier national motto is

"

  • "God's Help, the People's Love, Denmark's Strength"

Even their roayal Anthem goes right back to that same theme- "King Christian stood by the lofty mast"

Members of the Royal family must belong to the Church of Denmark.

Now if I were you I would have picked China as my "atheist-Country"... lots of non believers there.... though we can't know how long that will last as right now there are more Christians than members of the Communist party.

Jefferson wasn't one of the founders?

Sure... whats your point?

You talked about all the different religion in Europe and how they actually shaped it.... yet when each country chose a flag.... why the cross? (for starters)

That's your proof, they put a cross on their flag? This is pointless. Have at your version of it Danno, seriously, you are welcome to your world view.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

It's not just their flag.... they have a state sponsored religion, their national songs seem to express this same theme.

If you have a point to make, lets here is so far, the more I look into it the more attractive the place looks.

Of course when we talk about Denmark and in fact all Scandinavian countries we can't help but notice they all have one thing in common

Want to guess what that is?

A: None of them abide by the secular constitution of the United States, nor have anything to do with this discussion.

Of course I was referring to " inalienable" rights.

No, it's fine you have feel how ever you want on the matter, I was referring to the founding of this nation, not some hypothetical late night college chat.

"The founders" were quite clear, where the derived guidance, inspiration and foundation from.

It can be primarily be broken down into two cities Greece and Jerusalem.

It doesn't bother you that Denmark, the country you named has an official religion?

Lutheran?

Geography fails you.

Bingo!

We have another example of a foundation based on Christianity.

So the Nazis have a foundation based on Christianity?

- Defending life is as old as ... well, Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

-Maybe you haven't noticed but laws concerning public (and private) morals have been around long before there was a Republican party.. or Constitution for that matter.

- In fact, it is only within our lifetime that that has changed.

You are at war with your countries history and trying to put it off on the GOP.

Again, the argument above, albeit completed unrelated to the topic, only provide evidence as to why YOU should not have an abortion. None of it presumes that someone else should not. As stated before, if you are against abortions, don't have one. It you are against marriage, stay single. It is quite simple.

If it were so simple why can't people get an abortion any time they want?

How is it the laws vary dramatically from state to state.

Your logic also agrees with the statement _"If you don't want to beat your child, don't, but don't tell others they can't beat their kids.

Nearly everyone in this country assigns rights to the unborn.... we debate over "how many right" they have and at what point they gain them.

For instance, the mere fact that the unborn feel pain REQUIRES a pain killer to be administered if the unborn is at a certain stage of development.

When you say "It is quite simple" you expose your ignorance on the topic. I am here to try to help you, I welcome any information you might have (slogans don't count).

Interesting...

You are repeating a popular myth, I think I have corrected you on this before, if not I will do so again. (if facts are of any value to you)

Nazi persecution of the Catholic Church in Germany
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Roman Catholic Church suffered persecution in Nazi Germany. The Nazis claimed jurisdiction over all collective and social activity, interfering with Catholic schooling, youth groups, workers' clubs and cultural societies.[1]Nazi ideology could not accept an autonomous establishment, whose legitimacy did not spring from the government. It desired the subordination of the church to the state.[2]William Shirer wrote that "under the leadership of Rosenberg, Bormann and Himmler—backed by Hitler—the Nazi regime intended to destroy Christianity in Germany, if it could, and substitute the old paganism of the early tribal Germanic gods and the new paganism of the Nazi extremists."[3]

A threatening, if initially mainly sporadic persecution of the Church followed the Nazi takeover. Hitler moved quickly to eliminate Political Catholicism, and thousands were arrested. Despite continuing molestation of Catholic clergy, and organisations following the appointment of Hitler as Chancellor by President von Hindenberg, the Vatican was anxious to reach a legal agreement with the new government, in order to protect the rights of the Church in Germany.[4] The resulting Reich concordat was violated almost immediately. The Nazis moved to dissolve the Catholic youth leagues and clergy, nuns and lay leaders began to be targeted, leading to thousands of arrests over the ensuing years, often on trumped up charges of currency smuggling or "immorality". Catholic aligned political parties in Germany, along with all other parties, were outlawed in 1933, and Catholic lay leaders were targeted in Hitler's 1934 Night of the Long Knives purge. By 1937, Pope Pius XI's Mit brennender Sorge encyclical was accusing the regime of sowing "fundamental hostility to Christ and his Church".

By 1940, a dedicated clergy barracks had been established by the Nazis at Dachau Concentration Camp. Of a total of 2,720 clergy recorded as imprisoned at Dachau, the overwhelming majority, some 2,579 (or 94.88%) were Catholic - among them 400 German priests. Catholic schools in Germany were phased out by 1939 and Catholic press by 1941. With the expansion of the war in the East from 1941, there came also an expansion of the regime's attack on the Church in Germany. Monasteries and convents were targeted and expropriation of Church properties surged. The Jesuits were especially targeted.[5] The German bishops accused the Reich Government of "unjust oppression and hated struggle against Christianity and the Church".

In the Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany a severe persecution was launched from 1939. Here the Nazis set about systematically dismantling the Church - arresting its leaders, exiling its clergymen, closing its churches, monasteries and convents. Many clergymen were murdered. At least 1811 Polish clergy died in Nazi Concentration Camps. Hitler's plans for the Germanization of the East saw no place for the Christian Churches. The Church was also harshly treated in other annexed regions such as in Austria under the Gauleiter of Vienna, Odilo Globocnik, who confiscated property, closed Catholic organisations and sent many priests to Dachau; and in the Czech lands where religious orders were suppressed, schools closed, religious instruction forbidden and priests sent to Concentration camps.

-----------------------------------

Now we could look back in history and find persons who actually thought they were representing the Christian church who did deplorable things.... this just aint the case here..... in fact if you read carefully you will see "big Gov't" again is the enemy of liberty and the Church.
