I always find it odd that the party that is supposed to be for smaller government, wants to stick their nose in people's private business when it comes to these two issues. I suspect it has something to do with religious nuts taking over the Republican party. I guess they can pray on it when the libs take over the country and they become irrelevant.

- Defending life is as old as ... well, Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

-Maybe you haven't noticed but laws concerning public (and private) morals have been around long before there was a Republican party.. or Constitution for that matter.

- In fact, it is only within our lifetime that that has changed.

You are at war with your countries history and trying to put it off on the GOP.

I'm not at war with anyone. Defending life? I guess the argument ends there because I don't consider it life, and I never will, no matter how many aborted fetus photos I see.

Laws should be written to protect the public. Laws should NOT be written to impose your religious beliefs on others. You know, the whole separation of church and state thing. I think I read about that somewhere.

History is just that, history. People that live in the past can never move forward. It's the same thing with all these people whining about the downfall of the unions. Get over it. Times change.

If you want to believe in some all powerful being running the show, fine with me, but don't run around trying to impose your religious craziness on me with wacky laws.

Wait, did you just dodge your whole point?

Here lets back up because I want to make sure we got this right.

-You stated laws dealing with adultery, sex with children and sodomy were inventions of the GOP. (Laws dealing with subjective morality)

-I pointed out those laws exists long before there was a GOP or even a constitution.

Are we now agreeing, the GOP is simply hanging on to what always was?

I'm curious. Are you the USC, or are you the immigrant from Russia? If you're the immigrant from Russia, then I can understand your lack of English comprehension. If you're the USC, then I think your time would be better spent taking some remedial reading classes, rather than wasting your time posting here.

Your words Bro,

you suggest these laws were a sole interest of a political party when they were put in place and embraced by all until just a few decades ago.

When you speak of religious nuts, I can't help but wonder if you are aware of the 2 great awakening periods in our history.... those would make Pat Robertson look like a Methodist.

How could you possibly take those words and interpret that to have anything to do with adultery, sex with children and sodomy? I clearly stated "THESE TWO ISSUES." yet you somehow attempted to put words in my mouth.

Maybe I'm the one that needs the English class, because I don't see the connection.

Quit living in the past. If believing on god or some all powerful being makes your life better, then great. More power to you. Just leave me out of it, and don't force it on others. Quit knocking on my damn door while you're at it.

Get happy in the world's happiest countries

1. Denmark

Denmark came in first place as the happiest country in the world in the 2013 happiness report and one of the happiest places in Denmark must surely be Tivoli Gardens. One of the world's oldest amusement parks, Tivoli Gardens will reopen on April 10 for the season to throngs of native and foreign visitors. If a calmer Copenhagen is more your preference, visit the King's Garden at Rosenborg Castle, a popular spot for locals to picnic during the summertime.

To really capture that Danish sense of hygge, we recommend you dine in a Danish home. The "Dine with the Danes" organization matches tourists with Danish families all over the country for a home-cooked dinner. Count on candlelight -- almost a requirement for that special "hygge" experience.

Religion in Denmark Religiosity

According to the SKYE most recent Eurobarometer Poll 2010,[2] 28% of Danish citizens responded that "they believe there is a God", 47% responded that "they believe there is some sort of spirit or life force" and 24% responded that "they do not believe there is any sort of spirit, God or life force". Another poll, carried out in 2008, found that 25% of Danes believe Jesus is the son of God, and 18% believe he is the saviour of the world.[3] While a vast majority of Danes are technically agnostic or atheist, few choose to identify as such. It is speculated that this is because religion is such a non-issue, that not believing in it, does not require a specific label. "At the same time, they were “often disinclined or hesitant to talk with me about religion,” Mr. Zuckerman reported, “and even once they agreed to do so, they usually had very little to say on the matter.”"[4]

I can't help but think the lack of religion is the reason for their happiness.

See Danno, I can play your game. I suspect if I look at some of the most miserable places, I bet they're pretty religious folks. Just a guess.

Apparently your battle in not just with US history but widespread faith as well.

I don't know how to help you, there is a deep connection between Faith and public life and even Gov't life.

You don't really appreciate it until you live in other places, and then you realize how spiritual the USA is.

See what you are pretending is that no ones morals should effect another.

This is impossible.

Peoples morals are reflected in law, thats just a fact and as it should be.

What we don't do is use the Gov't to "establish" a religion.

By the way, most of those "happy countries" tend to be white.... what does that mean?

So what defines happiness

If more citizens were armed, criminals would think twice about attacking them, Detroit Police Chief James Craig

Florida currently has more concealed-carry permit holders than any other state, with 1,269,021 issued as of May 14, 2014

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

So what defines happiness

To answer your question, I do not know how someone can judge if EVERYONE in one country is happy or not.

Why do I say this you ask? Everyone judges happiness differently. What makes me happy may not make you happy. What I consider exciting may very well be boring to others.

You may look at me and say, OMG she has a horrible life. She plays badminton on the weekend with a bunch of Asian people and stays in the house most of the week reading books. She gets super excited when it is time to go to the drive in.

But I love these things! And I love reading. I can read a 500 page book in a day. It is my hobby.

A poor person can be happy. Back in 2001 I went to Mexico. The kids were in the street playing with water, smiling and happy. They did not care they were poor. Their parents did not either. They were happy they had food on their table, friends next door, fruits in the backyard, etc.

Western societies judge other countries off of Western ideas of happiness which includes things, materialistic items, while other countries judge their happiness off of intangible items. The families house that was passed down for generations, the ring that has been passed from a mother to a daughter in law. Family meals on the weekend, drinking coconut juice and eating bananas and drinking tea, not who got voted off of American Idol with people eating in front of the TV and only visiting family once a year on Christmas.

Whew! I hope you understand where I am coming from. :)

So what defines happiness

It's why a link to the story was provided - to provide answers to such questions.

The happiest of countries -- many of which are in Scandinavia according the latest World Happiness Report -- have a robust combination of higher life expectancy, gross domestic product per capita, social support, generosity, freedom to make life choices and lower perceptions of corruption.

In a nutshell, all the stuff right wingers hate is what makes people happy. :)
