Is anyone using a lawyer?

we paid our AOS and IV fees and the NVC received ALL our documents on 25 March 2014. We have not heard from them at all since.

Every time I call them they say it takes 30 business days before they will look at what is in the package.

is this normal?

when I look at other peoples timelines it appears that NVC reviews and enters the documents onto the system fairly quickly.

is the process longer for IR1/CR1 filers compared to K1 filers?

Process with a lawyer tends to be slower overall, as you need to get them info and then they fill in the form and may need to contact you again etc.

The processing of papers at USCIS/ NVC/ embassy is not faster just because you used a lawyer.

The only part that's quicker with using a lawyer is that you don't have to submit the utterly ridiculous DS-261. But you still have to wait just as long for everything and you likely want it done quicker than you lawyer will do it.
