AOS Interview May 8th!! What needs to be prepared? Am I worrying too much?

Hi everyone,

So I'm very excited today because I received a text and email with status update. Case status update says that I have been schedule for May 8th interview but the text & email is to let me know that the letter was mailed on April 6th!! (Haven't received it yet so don't know the location yet).

I am super excited, nervous, worried and happy!! I have the following prepared:

1. Complete copy of what the package I mailed in.

2. Originals of all the documents + last years' joint tax return which I didn't send in with my package because it wasn't filed at the time

3. Everything organized and tagged in my special PINK Immigration folder (lol)

4. Honeymoon and wedding pictures...

5. I am 6 months pregnant (showing very much) so this should help???

The only twist or POTENTIAL issue or tricky things I can see them being suspicious about are as follows:

1. We've been married for ONLY 8 months

2. We met online ( not a very conventional way to be getting married in my culture)

3. We were both married before ...(I don't how that would be looked suspiciously but I should mention that I've been married twice before and this is my THIRD one - never was I sponsored by anyone though)

So the question I have is, other than preparing a few questions on the Guide for interview link here, what else should I have prepared?

1. I don't have recent pay stubs... just his job contract which is for 10 YEARS!! Should I start collecting pay stubs starting now?

And Are my concerns listed above really a cause for concern?

Thanks!! Any opinion would be greatly appreciated...

Hi there,

Another question regarding the carry-on we are bringing to the interview. Do you need to have a copy of the medical form I-693 too? Ours was securely sealed in an envelope and we were given a copy of the last page with vaccination records. Should we bring it along?

This was what was in our bona fide marriage package:

- A confirmation of my benefits through work listing her as a beneficiary for health, dental & vision and a 100% beneficiary on my life & AD&D insurance

- An account statement from a joint savings account we started back in 05/2012

- Copies of our store cards from Victoria Secret & Express showing we have cards for the same account number

- My emails with her dad (he doesn't speak English and I don't speak Spanish) asking for his permission to marry his daughter

- An article from houston.eater.com reporting on our engagement at a local restaurant

- A couple of itineraries to NYC together for thanksgiving and christmas with family there

- About a dozen photos of random social and travel pics with a bunch of our wedding with family

Copies of the original application are not required, our IO took the entire package but she didn't review most of it and just looked at the benefits, the joint account and skimmed through the photos asking questions on who everyone was (family).

I haven't had my AOS interview yet, but my immigration lawyer has suggested compiling any of the following (if applicable): bank stmts showing joint ownership; utility, etc bills showing joint responsibility for common household bills; health, life insur policies showing spouse as beneficiary or additional insured; leases or mortgages showing joint ownership; any other documents showing both of your names

"5. I am 6 months pregnant (showing very much) so this should help??? "

I was five months pregnant and I showed too. I took copies of my ultra sound pictures. the IO kept the copies. I think it did help us at least. She wanted to keep the originals so take copies just in case.

Well that and my USC husband gushing about the baby and the ultrasound pictures and describing the baby's hands legs and arms are. He was there during the Ultrasound so he knew what was what.

100% Correct.

My Lawyer requested I bring exactly the same.

Photos, letters, call logs are all secondary evidence at the AOS stage.

Primary evidence such as joint finances, joint bank account/credit cards, utility bills, joint lease, proof of spouse being Beneficiary and joint tax returns etc is what they are looking for.
