Thanks Harpa Timsah. So usually they don't have stokes interview on K1 VISA? Is that mean they will deny it if they don't approved it?

you two had a Stokes Interview.

As to approval for the AOS, is unknown at this point.

missing 3/100 or 3/150 - I don't know what to tell you, but the thresh-hold IS published somewhere.

Was it explained to you, that you two were undergoing a Stokes Interview?

[if you are exaggerating on 150 or 100 questions, say so - as this is what's done for a Stokes Interview, where the couple is seperated and questioned individually]

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks Darnel,,,,, This is our first interview since we filed aos, and it didn't say a Stokes Interview or something like that.... but we've been separated. First we go inside tother and then the officer asked could you please go outside and I'll first interview your wife, I said Okay and it took almost an hour and 30 minutes, and then they called me. My interview was quite shorter about 30-40 minutes.... and at the end the officer said I will review the interview and you will hopefully get letter in one week........

The officer asked my wife almost every possible question, from how I met her, from her family, my family, my car and my job, my banks and our food. She asked what we did that day or this day, she asked almost every possible question, I think the officer run out any more questions lol, and I don't think the officer was bad at all, she was a female and she was nice but again she was really serious about this interview.

There must be a reason why they gave you a Stokes interview when adjusting from a K1 and for the first interview at that, what is your timeline? What proof of bona fide marriage did you provide? Have you or your wife had any legal or visa problems in the past?

We also had our AOS interview in November 2012 at the Tukwila DHS office. My wife and myself were first interviewed, and then my stepson was escorted in and the interview continued. I have to tell you, I felt that it was a very strange interview. Read our review, to get a sense at the time, of the "mirky" interview. At the end of the "grilling," the IO told us that he had just received our file, and hadn't had a chance to review it. He wouldn't approve or deny our AOS, just said that they will contact us in 10-14 days with with either an RFE or approval. Later on that day, twice my phone exploded with several SMS text messages from USCIS to check our account. Our status then flip-flopped from "Card/Document Production" to "Approved" several times into the early evening. Both Green Cards arrived in the mail a week later.

I hope that you have a positive result.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Honestly, Nothing I can tell as of right now. Our case started smooth and easy.... I started my process in here, US. we got RFE in about after 5 months, and response to that RFE immidietely, and in just two days they approved my petision. They send the case to Addis ababa ethiopia, where my wife got interviewed and approved, she came here US and we appliad aos with ead and travel document. We got our EAD last month and also got interview appointment... Everything was smooth and easy except this last interview.

But if it is Stokes Interview they should let us know that right?they didn't tell us anything and the officer just asked us hundred of questions separately, and we did wonderful most of question however we missed the most important one I guess, which is my wife told that she take pills, but I said I have no plans about getting baby or kids. I told the officer that I honestly don't know if my wife takes pills but nothing she told me about this and Yes my wife sometimes buys a lot of different medicine from Rite aid which honestly I have no clue. I told them my Wife Has a medical digree, and when it comes this stuff she's the boss I have no clue.... Anyway it's not big argument because the couple should know each other.

Thanks all of aussie_jason, Darnell, A&B

My cousin did her interview in Seattle, Washington. Both her and her husband got a few questions wrong. Including their wedding date! They were approved.

Oh so the question was about whether your wife took birth control, that explains why it was such a crucial question as that is something you would want to know prior to participating in certain marital activities.

Is there an age difference? Culture? Race? Something must have triggered it.

Getting a date mixed up during a regular interview isn't a big deal but not knowing if your wife is on birth control or not could be.

Hi OP, sending you positive vibes and crossing fingers for you. Hope you receive some good news about your case very soon. We are also having our interview at Seattle tomorrow, fingers crossed.

For those of you who have been interviewed at Seattle, is a petitioners birth certificate a must have? My husband couldn't find his birth certificate or order for it in time but has his passport. We have everything ready but his birth certificate, hope that won't be an issue for us.

Did you by chance include a copy of the immigrant's birth cert. with the AOS application. If so, you may be okay.

From the VJ AOS Guide:

7. A copy of the intending immigrant's birth certificate along with English translation. (If in any language other than English)

It is also a stated requirement in the Form I-485 instructions, see page 3: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-485instr.pdf

The IO could ask to compare the copy to the original, in which case you may get an RFE.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thanks A&B.

We did send a copy of my birth certificate and are taking the original with us to the interview but we don't have the petitioner's birth certificate. We only have his US passport

Among the list of documents to bring to the interview is the petitioner's birth certificate and proof US citizenship or lawful permanent residence.

They didn't ask for any birth certificates at our interview but that isn't to say they won't for yours, all they asked us for ID wise was our passports and our state IDs (Texas loves asking for their state IDs for some reason), anyway next time please start a new thread as this is completely unrelated to the original topic or find one of the several other similar threads where this question was already addressed.

US citizen should be able to go on the website of whatever municipality he/she was born in and order a certified copy. That is how I got mine.
