How long until I can track passport application online?

I never called for the tracking # so it was a surprise for me too to get in the mail when I didn't expect it.

What had me worried is it wasn't trackable in their system. Still isn't. lol.

I wanted to update for anyone following this thread for timeline info or comparison:

We received our son's passport today (4-10-2014) in the mail (USPS priority mail express)!! I'm really glad and very thankful!

So our timeline went like this...

1. Applied at our local post office on Saturday March 29, 2014. We paid extra for expedited and overnight delivery to and from.

2. Our passport application arrived in Philadelphia at the passport office on Tuesday, April 1st, 2014.

3. Check was cashed on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014.

4. We were able to view the application status online starting on the morning of Thursday, April 3rd, 2014. Status said "currently being processed."

5. Eventhough the status still said "currently being processed", I called the toll-free info number on Wednesday afternoon, April 9th, 2014 and they said that the passport was completed and had been mailed out the previous evening. They gave me a USPS tracking number for the passport. They said the old passport, birth certificate, etc. would arrive later in a separate first-class mailing.

6. Passport arrived here this morning 4-10-14 via USPS priority mail express!

I want to say how quick this was! I am very very impressed! Also, when I called the toll-free number yesterday for a status update, they were extremely nice and helpful. I also want to note that the online application status just changed this morning to say that the passport had been completed and mailed.

Hope others who are applying for a passport and wondering about timelines will find this helpful. That's what makes this forum such a great resource. Have a nice day everyone :-)

These come separate. Haven't received the naturalization certificate or the passport card we also ordered as of yet. Probably next week or two.

Thanks very much. We received the old passport and the birth certificate back today (4-12-14) via regular mail. So it arrived 2 days after we received the new passport. Have a great weekend!

Good deal. We got back Sol's naturalization certificate today - it was sent priority - it arrived three days after the passport. No sign of the passport card yet, my understanding is that is sent via regular first class mail. Perhaps next week.

Passport card arrived today, we're going to finally rent a safety deposit box at the bank tomorrow.

I don't know what I'm going to do now that I never have to update my signature again.

OP: Yes, stick with decent advices....when I read your first post my pocket knife opened up in my pocket. It is not nice when you're complaining, and totally bashing the government...a government that allowed your wife to enter, get her green card, settle, and eventually become a US citizen. Just be humble and grateful. You and your wife would be nowhere if the government said "forget, we have enough foreigns here". It was you guys choice to go down this route, instead of you either moving back to the PI, or simply tell yourself at the beginning to not even think about a further relationship with that foregin women over at PI. You should be a tad more appreciative...
