How long until I can track passport application online?

We applied April 1, expedited, delivered to them the 2nd, check cashed on the 4th, still not in their system. They are supposed to process expedited applications within 8 business days, it isn't even trackable yet. How long does it usually take?

I wouldn't sweat it. Mine didn't become "trackable" until 2 days before I got it in the mail. Makes sense? No, but that's what happened.

I hope you're right. I mean, we expedited, sent it in a week ago Express, still not trackable. Hell, people who expedited have been receiving their passports in a week.

Tired of getting reamed every step of the way of this endless process. This government has turned to complete and utter garbage. What should be a happy time is just a huge headache.

for expedited passports the process takes 3 weeks. For expedited when you go personally to the agency it takes 8 days. So you sent it on the 1st, according to the website it takes between 5 to 7 days to trace it. You will get your passport faster then you think. Good luck.

Not exactly:

"Our expedited service commitment is to process your passport application within 8 business days from the time your application is received by a passport agency. As I said, it is supposed to be processed within 8 business days.

Why is it a headache? With all due respect, I think you should be just a tad more appreciative that your wife is here with you. I know that the government is far from perfect, but the waiting time to get her passport isn't that bad. Personally, I am very grateful that I was given a chance to become a U.S. Citizen. Remember that it isn't a right, it's more of a privilege.

With that said, just be a little bit more patient. She'll get her passport soon enough.

Since you and I applied about the same time, I thought it might be helpful to share timelines....

We applied expedited for our son's passport....

It was received by the passport people on April 1st.

I was able to "see" the status online by checking the application status on April 3rd; said it was being processed.

I have not heard anything since then and there are no new online updates, it still just says "being processed".

I am hoping and praying for a smooth and quick process with no problems or delays.

Does anyone here happen to know what the "status" online changes to eventually? Right now it just says "being processed". Also, has anyone received an expedited passport recently and can tell us how long it took, what your online status changed to, etc.?

I applied for a passport book on March the 17th and to day I received my new passport. hang in there you will get your passport soon.

So, here's my update:

My wife called the service center phone number, and found out the passport, passport card, and naturalization card were mailed (separately) yesterday. She was given a USPS tracking number. I tracked it, it was supposed to be delivered tomorrow. But surprise - it showed up today, and by coincidence, my wife had been sent home early and was home to receive it.

The passport tracker still doesn't show anything. It's best to just give them a call, it obviously isn't always updated timely - or at all.

I can't believe this is finally over with, as we come up to our 7th year together this May. Now we can act on working and/or living abroad without having this huge roadblock in our way. Getting my hammock ready for an October departure to the tropics, with no return ticket.

Best of luck to everyone. I'll still lurk about being my annoying, dissenting self as always - but I'll try to keep giving decent advice.

Indeed, they received it April 2nd, and it came today. We paid for Express Mail both directions. And tomorrow is Sol's birthday - although in the Philippines, it is already tomorrow, so today kind of is too. I'm not sure whether she likes the passport or the Chanel No. 5 better.

I never called for the tracking # so it was a surprise for me too to get in the mail when I didn't expect it.
