I would like to bring my mother here from philippines. my question is what forms to fill out and do anyone know what the filing fees wil cost me from begining to end to so we can start budgeting it.

No. Once you are a US citizen you file an I-130 for your parent, which will take around a year to be approved at current processing rates. Your approved petition will be sent to the NVC where you will submit certain fees and documents, before finally being sent to the embassy overseas where your mother will interview for an immigrant visa. If approved, she automatically receives a green card upon entry to the US, no I-485 (or anything else) would be required.

The initial cost would be the $420 filing fee for the I-130.

once it gets to nvc you have to pay $88 for AOS and $280 for IV later. You also need to prepare about the medical fee which is about php10,200 i guess plus other expenses getting docs from nso, nbi

Hello everyone,

Does my mom and dad still need NBI clearance in the Philippines? I don't see this as a required document for NVC.

Please advise.

I-130 for Parents (Mom and Dad)

3.15.2014: Mailed I-130 Packet for Mom and Dad

3.21.2014: Received email notification with case # for both petitions; case forwarded to NBC for processing

3.21.2014: Check cashed

3.22.2014: Hard copy NOA1 received

4.08.2014: Both I-130 approved (notification received via email) - It only took three weeks!!!

4.11.2014: Received NOA2 approval notice in the mail.

5.01.2014: Called NVC to ask for status of paperwork. Advised they received both application on 4.28. Advised to call in 30 business days for an update.

6.02.2014: Email notification received from NVC that shows parents' NVC case number and instructions to pay AOS Fee and fill out DS 261.

6.03.2014: Paid AOS fee ($88 for both petitions)

yes they have to obtain nbi and police clearances..
