How hard are the Co's with an I-864 in Manila US embassy ?

This is basically what I have to go with . I am self emplyed with an annual income of $24,000 . New business not much history , but I have a 2011 1099K with $29,000 eanred doing the same type business . Just in 2014 I have a retail certificate and EIN number .

My co sponsor has an established business $40,000 per year annual with losses in 2013 and 2012 . There is also $16,000 in other income which is more reliable .

If I go with co sponsor adding the $56,000 or add as a I-864A household member with $24,000 plus $16,000 meeting the poverty of 5 . At least on paper anyway . Just not sure how they will see it and accept the figures for current income .

What would be my best option ?

Please stick to the subject and not be negative . I am honestly doing well in my new business and earning a living to support myself and my wife . Just hard to show that . I made a very nice business plan showing earnings and expected future earnings .

Thanks

How many people will you be supporting? If it is just you and your new spouse, the 24K should be enough.

It would be a total of 4 and if I add the household 5

1 daughter

1 prior I-864

1 myself

1 wife

1 household member

I get it. $24K won't fly with that many people. I hear USEM is hard on co-sponsors but never checked into how to do it, Sorry I can't be of more help.

Where's our guru, Hank?

They are IR/CR-1, no issue with accepting a co-sponsor with that visa, embassy doesn't have a choice.

On paper my co sponsor's annual income meets the poverty of 2 . However my concern was the 2013 and 2012 loss for the business . Will the CO say that my sponsor can not meet the poverty with the prior history ?

You and/or your co-sponsor need to have individual income enough to meet the poverty guidelines for the number of people that will be supported - including you.

OP, just curious, who's the household member? In filing for your 1040, would you be including this household member?

My household member is a parent . No I am not on her taxes nor is she on mine . I am trying to figure out to use as a co or a household member added to my income . What would be the best option .

You don't get counted with the co-sponsor.

I'm not an expert in this, but from my understanding, household size is determined from one's 1040.

That is, it's household size = taxpayer + declared dependents.

So for your parent, how many is/are her declared dependent/s? For her alone, if you add your wife, is she still above or compliant to 125% of the poverty guidelines? http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf

As Hank advised, you're not included in your mom's household size.

Edit: From your timeline, your wife will most likely be interviewed this year. So you only need to use 2013 and not 2014 ITR. Unless by any chance, you get adjudicated by early 2014, which hopefully doesn't take that long.
