Maybe one day we can judge people by the content of their heart and not their skin color, but as long as someone has it pounded in them from day one, that every time they fail it is someone else s fault, they will never succeed or learn from their mistakes.

That was "The dream" we all supported 2 decades ago.

"The Dream" is not right around the corner, in fact it is only by faith we see any evidence of it at all because things we now deem as "success" are so often props.

While many people of all races enjoy success it is only from a distance to reality can one believe the masses of Blacks for example are on the verge of breaking into the middle class.... in a color blind society.

To go to a the COLOR BLIND SOCIETY we believe in ....would lead to serious social unrest.

Imagine for five minutes if

-College entrance were "color blind."

-Government employment was "color Blind."

-Corporations did away with hiring/promotion goals based on race.

-Diversity Programs were actually based on diversity of individuals and not race.

-Housing loans, SB Loans, were not earmarked for targeted racial groups under race or de facto race categories. (Urban, underprivileged, Historically disadvantaged etc).

-How stark would the difference of school performance be if the billions spent on Busing dried up and kids when to school in their own neighborhoods?

-If the additional money going to minority schools under a wide range of code names and methods dried up and their funding was on par with other schools.

-If All Gov't contracts, Fed, State and Local were awarded on a color-blind basis.

-If "White or Euro-Culture" was as celebrated as Black Culture or Hispanic Culture or Asian Culture.

-If we did away with unique race based history days, weeks and months.

-If all job promotions and advancements were free of presenting a good corporate photo and instead strictly based on a color blind formula.

-If people actually picked their housing based on location rather than the color of the person who lives there or the composition of the student body at the schools their kids will attend.

-If CPI commercials showed the burglar as non-white just once

The reality is we will NEVER have a color blind society... because race matters, if it doesn't matter to you, you need only look around to see it does matter to everyone else, especially minorities (naturally).

Yeah I know people get pissed off when I ask questions but let me ask, does anyone here think in their lifetime we would ever see a truly "color blind" society?

As I said before I think this goal of a "color blind" or a race neutral society only serves to set us up for failure as it is a unreasonable goal.

And who gets the blame when the goal is not met?

As a multi racial country we need to have realist expectations or we doom ourselves to conflict.

As always, realistic expectations are much more complex and difficult than are "dreams" but we should not be afraid to have these conversations, to look at those groups falling behind and realize when they fail, we all are diminished.

The first thing we need to do is refrain from the blame game.

Man I don't know where you keep getting these notions I have something against White people as a whole - I have people in my family that are White and or Bi-racial. I'm like 1/4th Irish, my mothers maiden name is distinctly an Irish last name. I will admit I may come off as heavy handed with some of my language but put yourself in my shoes. There are only what 2 other Black people who post on this sub-forum frequently (Marvin & Janelle) Half the posts on here are "Black people....this" "Black people...that" So yeah I do get defensive when I read a bunch of stereotypical BS. There are a handful of loud mouths on here that love to fuel that fire. We're usually "Always outnumbered, Always outgunned"

But back to your message - so we're either basketball playing, 40 drinking weed smokers or Bill Cosby? How about you just don't "judge" an entire race of people based on your own (admittedly) limited experiences. Here is a clue, <insert race> people are all different. Not all Asians are good in math and science, I have known plenty that sucked at it. Not all Black people know how to dance (like me). Not all White people are racists. So when you say things like "its a known fact that Blacks...." is ignorant and stereotypical. Based on the examples you gave, you still have no idea what Black parents teach their kids to enumerate two distinct beliefs that they are passing down. How can you even begin to rationalize that statement? You can believe whatever you want to believe, doesn't mean it's true.

And all your bragging about working on wall street and your friend having more money than my family, I really don't care. If you're that insecure you have to get on a forum and talk about how much bank your "friend" has then you got bigger issues than worrying about what Black people teach their kids...just my opinion.
