  1. 1. Did Jeb Bush just lose the GOP primary?

    • Yes.
    • No. He can still win as long as the nutbar vote gets splintered.
  2. 2. Jeb Bush clearly does not hate all illegal immigrants.

    • This is a problem. He should hate them.
    • Clearly. And that's a good thing.

Sorry for the delay, haven't been on the site for a while.

But Marvin: You are constantly trying to "educate" me (and others). I do not mind your opinions, in fact I welcome them, but your constant harping on "educating" those who disagree with you is insulting. I happen to have more education than most people here... but that is not my point. My issue is your insistence that those who disagree lack knowledge or smarts, and hence have to be taught to buy what you are selling. Sorry but it ain't true.

This is just like when Obama was supposedly puzzled why the public did not support Obamacare, he said something like: "We must not be communicating our message well." That was insulting to the public. We got the message, and were thoroughly informed about Obamacare. And after carefully considering it, we hated it.

In other words, you can disagree with me, but don't call me stupid or uninformed.

Why is providing information to educate the uniformed insulting? Facts are not opinions. If you do not have the facts you are ignorant, that's not an insult, that's just reality.

As to whether or not you are more educated than most people here, that's really a very silly thing to say as you have no idea what the education level is of anyone that posts here, but I have to say, that they way you phrased it is neither eloquent nor does it demonstrate the education to claim to have attained. An educated person does not say, "I have more education", that statement is simply grammatically inept.

Why do you hate people in uniform?

Why indeed? That's a very cool typo, I like it

It does take away from the elegance of my response though, I am so ashamed :(

The issue I see here, and I might be wrong, is that he only wants to have a conversation that suits his point of view. Which I see is basically futile since all this surmounts to is him making a bunch of statements that are inaccurate, yet he gets upset when you post facts to the contrary.

No, what I want is an admission from you (that I have never seen you give to anyone) that someone can have a disagreement of opinion without having to be educated, and then is therefore by extension, dumb. This immediately irritates me, no matter how valid a point you may make (and you do make some). I think you do not intend to come across as you do, but I would like you to understand you can state your opinion without the other value judgments.

I was going to ignore this but... The above is an imbecilic post. Dismissing someone else's opinions as a lack of education doesn't make your opinions facts. Just because you call them "facts" does not make them facts. Commenting on things out of context is typical of you. And, in addition to being petty, judging by the above it is you that has no grasp of grammar.

As usual point and you fail to meet. I did not make any claims about anything in my post, least of all my educational attainments. I nicely suggested that you are talking out of your posterior, claims about your education seemed to be both exaggerated and largely irrelevant but I do appreciate your taking the time to respond even while your better self clearly tried to stop you. Thanks for that :)

Actually, if you do some reading I've had plenty of disagreements with those who I usually agree with. A few people that I call friends here don't agree with my views on TM/GZ. And vice versa on some other things. And they're not dumb, not by a long shot. And we can agree to disagree, no harm, no foul. And when I'm wrong or misinformed, I apologize.

Here's the difference. You keep making statements like it's reality. And when I provide links that show the contrary, you either ignore it or change the subject. My opinion of the GOP is they have racists in the party. I've proven this time and time again. They're also racists on this side of the house. No argument there. This is FACT. Because I can back up my claim with facts. You might not accept them because you don't like it. But it doesn't change it. If you want to dispute it, then throw up some links. If I'm wrong I can handle it.

If you disagree with some in here and make a valid point.

Expect a Face Palm, A crack about your reading comprehension, or some wild accusation about Reagan or Bush.

I will note Marvin usually does not do that, unless it's a race thing

This is the part he's missing. When you make a statement like this isn't true or that's not accurate, I expect either links or proof on the contrary. When I put my word on something, I can back up my claim.

What gets me most upset is that extremists on the left will shut down any opposing views with shouts of "racism", "homophobia", and the like. These are conversation killers and have no place in thoughtful discourse. (And for those few that are not using hyperbole when making these statements - and actually believe that everything said by people they disagree with is racist, for example - need their heads examined.)

Everyone has to acknowledge that one can have an opposing view without being racist or homophobic.

And some people need to acknowledge that quite a few talking points on popular issues are bigoted.

Thoughtful discourse doesn't involve cartoonish figures in the media.
