Hello VJ members..

Since VJ is the best website..i need someone to answer my questions please:

I'm in love with a beautiful lady from USA she's 45 and I'm 31, she has 2 sons 22 and 24 the 22 is married, i have met her online and we have been talking for bout 8 month now Skype, Emails, Gifts through Mail..and i sent her an engagement ring last January and we decided that we will pray to god and go through K1 visa after she visits me in June!! But since she will only be here for a week and from what i have read on here i have some concerns..because of the difference ages she have kids and she only will be here for 1 week!! however our both families are okay with us being together i have met her whole family (online i mean) and they likes me and i like them..she also met my family and they like her and she likes them, we're truly in love and we want to be together to the rest of our life if god allow us! i have been reading here and everywhere and i need to hear your suggestions about the best way..should we go through K1 or we get married and go through CR-1 visa? and if we got married she have to stay in Egypt for 6 month? because that's what i heard lately!! I'm so confused and lost..i don't want her to come here then we get lost between all the routine here in Egypt and i don't want to give her a fake hope that things going to be so easy when she comes here we both a hard workers and i know it's a long process.. i love her and care for her.., so please anyone can tell me what should i do??

She does not have to stay in egypt for 6 months ........I personally would never do k-1 from egypt if your denied you have no way to fight it........I got married in Feb of this year.........a week is not long enough to get married if that is the route you decide to take.........you should check the embassy site so that you can see all that has to be done to marry in egypt........she also can not just walk into the embassy and get the document needed for court marriage in egypt she has to make an appointment she needs to think about staying in egypt about three weeks to get everything done if you marry and spend some quality time with you

I can only wish you luck. I'm engaged to a man in Alexandria right now and we're waiting for his interview to be scheduled. I can only tell you that this process is incredibly painful and difficult. Being in a long-distance relationship with such different cultures is overwhelming. She is used to having a lot of freedom as an American woman, and you will probably expect her to isolate herself from all male acquaintances and many social situations after engagement or marriage. That isolation is okay when you have your sweetheart by your side, but when you're not together, it's just a huge stress on both of you. At least that's my experience. I wasn't prepared for how many sacrifices I would have to make to help my Muslim sweetheart feel comfortable--it's a difference of cultures that you need to discuss with your sweetheart in depth before you move forward. Talk about expectations. Talk about your Plan B if your visa is refused. Talk about how you'll find time to be together while you're waiting. Can she travel to see you? Can you travel to some other country to spend time together there?

As far as the actual visa process, I believe your visa wait will take longer if you're already married. If you go the K-1 route, you run the risk of being denied and then having to start over with the other. However, you also run that risk if you're married also. There are no guarantees. How do you do with massive uncertainty? This process is stressful. Very. Stressful. The more you can accept that, the better your chance of success. Whatever you choose to do, I am happy you found love and I hope you two can make it work. Real love is a beautiful thing and worth fighting for.

Salamu alaikum,

You CAN do K1. I don't know why all the negative comments about K1. This is my 2nd K1 Visa from EGYPT and although it took longer than expected it is almost finished. We are awaiting the visa anyday now. It isn't easy but if you are truly in love it is WORTH the wait. Allah has a plan for you and everything will be as it should. InshaAllah. I also have kids from my previous marriage, 17 and 6. My Fiance and I are only 1 year apart in age difference so I'm not sure about that being a red flag for you. You should definetly talk about your options and have her read up on VJ and ask questions. The more you know the easier the decision. We are all here to help. You can see my timeline below.

Salam

I did k3 spouse visa back in 2006 ... hubby is from Alexandria Egypt too. I hear CR1 is a better option but either way... each couple has their own choice to make. Either way could get you a visa here or could deny you a visa here. Best wishes.

Its something that you both need to decide but either way its a long process ? What u do need to make sure is to take alot of pics when she visits u both together and also pics with your family. U need to have alot of evidence to prove it's a genuine relationship. I've heard the K-1 visa is a bit quicker than the CR-1 but there was a point when both were taking a long time. I've read in other forums here that it goes a little quicker for a CR-1 Visa if the US citizen is currently living with husband outside the US (they process those faster and give them more priority)

We got married last August in Egypt and it was a tidious process having to go to different places and I was there for just 2wks but we did it with God's help. Best thing to do like u said, is talk it over with her and both decide on what to do and always have a plan "B" just in case the process takes longer than expected or visa denied. Just be prepared to have a lot alot of patience and wait it out. Good luck!!
