Flying with a minor US citizen...

How would a Canadian woman, fly to Canada alone with her US citizen step child (with parental permission of course)? I know that if we go as a family he goes through one customs line while I go through another, but what happens when there is no Adult US citizen to go with a US Citizen child?

I might have to take my step son with me when I go home for a visit this summer and this totally just occurred to me.

I had to do this back in 2009 with our daughter. Hubby wrote a letter stating that he gave permission for me to take our daughter to Canada to visit my Mom. That the vacation was 2 weeks long and that we were returning on (enter date).

I thought for sure with me showing a Canadian passport and our daughter a US one we would get asked at some point in the journey up there. NOT ONCE!! Know where they asked me?? At the Victoria airport on the way home!!! I looked at her like "are you kidding me? Isn't that a little late now?" =)

Anyways, just sayin that's all we had to do.

I've never had this issue as I've never seen a separate line for USC at a Canadian airport, but I've been informed there are some (just not in Edmonton, Calgary, or Kelowna.) Where you go, he goes. Period.

I have a nexus card, but my daughter does not. I go in the line with her.

There are separate lines at Pearson, there was some confusion on where I was supposed to go since it was labeled "Canadian Residents".... the guy put me through the auto computer anyway, was super fast. But you have to have a Cdn passport for them.
