I just received my NOA2! It was dated January 4. I was kinda worried cuz I didn't receive any "touches" or anything but then I just got the notice in the mail Saturday! Anyway, I guess it really IS gonna be a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here is my question: Now I have to send a copy of everything to my fiance, but the instructions I saw here say that i should send ORIGINALS of all the evidence. Does this mean I have to send my ORIGINAL birth certificate and my PASSPORT to her to bring to the interview or can I use the copies like I sent with the original I-129f that I submitted? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ant'Juan,

A USCIS or consular officer can ask to see the original of any photocopied document that has been submitted to verify the photocopy.

My fiance was extremely nervous about the originals of his birth certificate and his divorce decrees being out of his hands, but he couriered them to me for the interview. We both decided that it was unrealistic for me to have his original passport and for them to expect me to have it. We had a notarized copy and had no trouble. I also had photocopies of the birth certificates and divorce decrees and did get the originals back - I made sure of that!

I got an extra official copy of my birth certificate from the county register and sent him that. Of course, he hasn't had his interview yet, so maybe something will go horribly wrong. I didn't sent a copy of my passport. He's got the photocopies from the original submission, though.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll send an original certified birth certificate and a notarized photocopy of my passport. This seems like the best way to go. Thanks for all the help.
