I suppose you would have to explain what you consider wealth to consist of and we have to then hope the actual C O will have the same opinion.

At one time, it was only a matter of showing a passbook an adequate number of digits consistently in the balance column over an extended period of time. I suppose that has become outdated as more banks in the world go completely electronic. The US does want tourists and the money tourists bring with them. It does not want more public charges. If you don't fit clearly into either group, then the process may seem completely random as to who gets in, and who doesn't.

You are commenting on general knowledge of the process.

In this exact case what would you advise them to do about submitting satisfactory evidence of this wealth? How can anyone prove they will not transfer this bank balance in this current electronic era?

The OP in this exact case has shown an intent for his girlfriend and her daughter to immigrate to the US. Using a tourist visa for that purpose would be fraud. Any "advice" given to aid in such an activity would be a violation of the TOS.

He should follow my previous advice to the letter to get the deserved outcome to this specific scenario.

first, as I saideNow that I've read all the replies(so far), I have few things to say. As I said earlier, nothing I read surprised or was new to me, since I tried (and failed twice) to get a tourist visa for my ex-Thai GF.The reason I wrote was simply to satisfy my Americn friend who insisted that filipinas were different than Thais, primarily because of their English. I knew better, but I just went thru the motions. Most of you were trying to be helpful; others were just patronizing or flippant or just rude. I understand that we're all differend I'm not angry or upset. On the contrary, I want this site to be helpful and not to be used to put readers on(or off). And that way, we ave months from the normal gestation period.

As a bonus to those of you, like me, who are not married and have no intention to get married, there is another way - legal - to get a GF to the states and that's the route we're taking.

I have just enrolled her in an accredited Thai university which has a 100% English facultry, teaching all subjects in English, and separate from their traditional Thai curriculum. She will get a BBA degree which includes an exchange program with an American university, so she will be able to study one year in America.

This can be a lesson for all of us. No one, including me, has all the answers.

Good luck!

Since you have done all of this simply to waste the time and efforts of the members I suggest you also enroll in that Thai university with the English " facultry " to improve your ability to communicate as well. That may help you pose a question next time and better understand the written responses as they were intended.

Your friend could also use some help with his understanding of the world. People from the P I are certainly different but the differences aren't confined to language which has no affect on the outcome of a visa.

She will need a student visa for that exchange, with no guarantee of success. She would still have to overcome 214b. No amount of letter writing from the Thai university will change that salient fact.

Years ago, many people from India would take some hotel courses, then claim that they 'had to' do a one year 'training' in the US in order to graduate, which, not surprisingly, turned out to be bogus.

While the Thai university might prefer if their students went to the US for some period of time, that alone is not sufficient grounds to dole out student visas to people, or else everyone would line up outside their door tomorrow.

A filipina residing legally overseas WILL have a better chance at a B2 than one living in RP. By no means a sure thing, but interviewing anywhere except Manila will increase the chances.

I really doubt my wife would have passed a B2 in Manila. From Tokyo it was a rubber stamp, a little over a week from DS-160 submission to visa in hand..

This university has an exchange program with universities in a number of countries including the U.S. The school handles all the student visas and I am 100% certain that she will if she maintains her grades and standing will get that exchange. I met personally with the dean of the college, so I know what I'm talking about. TThis is no sham operation and no attempt to get her a job cleaning floors in the U.S. to escape her life in Thailand, the Philippines or her 8 year old daughterdaughter. Really, what's the matter with some of you?

By the way, I apologize for not proofing a previous reply. The way I could have reduced the CR-1 waiting time from 9-12 months to 3 mon ths was to contact a rep(name given to me by a friend) who works in the American consulate across from the American embassy in Bangkok. He wrote me to bring the CR-1 application and a utility bill showing MY utility bill or other proof of residence in Thailand. He said he would move the application thru the various departments - State, Homeland Security, etc. instead of the papers going back and forth.y, Finally, I have a personal message for Ning.Do not reply to any of my messages. I can be as insulting and obnoxious as you, but I was brought up to ignore people who spend their lives trying to make others miserable.

The only guaranteed visa is the one you have.

I have heard that Dean's of US Colleges told Students they would get jobs with their qualifications

DCF I believe is available in Thailand, somebody else can comment on the likely time. Not quite as you described.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

No one from some Thai university can guarantee that somebody will get a US visa....no one. Section 214b will not be held in suspension for her. IF the CO is not convinced she will return after the alleged one year of study in the US, no visa will be issued, no matter how many letters you or some dean write....neither of you control the process. The dean cannot guarantee that she will leave the US, nor control any other aspect of her actions.

You might be right, but an my money is on the dean. She's been doing this exchange for 12 years. Nothing is guaranteed, just as no one on this sitwie can guarantee someone will or will not get a tourist, B2 or education visa. One example: we were told the only way to get an educational visa in Thaand is attending a Thai language school. Wrong. We got one at the local immigration office and didn't have to go to any school. Each country's immigration department makes its own decisions, irregardless of what "the rules say".

Why didn't you do what your " friend " told you? Let me guess. That friend, if you have any, is an employee of the embassy. Of course this is simply a display of Thai style thinking. They want you to believe they have some influence to prepare you for the coming shake down.

You can just sit back and wait as they hand carry the docs thru the various departments. LOL LOL

If you have a personal message to send use the correct avenue here on V J. It will be the first thing you would have done right. Remember that upbringing because mom may kick your a** again.
