Hey guys,

so did you all attach the G-1145 form along with the n400 for e notification?I didnt do it.Didnt even realise there was an option for that. Its been8 days since USCIS received my package( USPS tracking)but my check is not cleared yet...getting a lil worried if everything is ok with my paperwork. Will let ya'll know if the check clears tomorrow.

G1145 is optional. I did it send it with mine though, just for tracking. You can initiate updates online once you receive the receipt number. Fingers crossed, your check will be cashed soon if everything is ok.

Thank you for the answer, Please my question is, i don't know my Dad's immigration status, what do i do? do i leave the space empty? is your father a US citizen yes or no?

Not Sure if I'm missing something but we need more details. We can't answer if we don't have more information. Does your father reside in the USA? I think the question is straightforward, if your dad doesn't have citizenship of the USA then the answer would be no.

Keweul - I think the original poster is saying that he either doesn't know if his dad resides in the US or just doesn't know if he ever became a US citizen. They may be estranged or may have lost contact.

Dynamicman1881 - I think that the purpose of this question is to determine whether or not you should be filing an N400 or an N600. If your father became a citizen before you turned 18 and you had a greencard at that time, then you already are a US citizen and shouldn't be filing an N400. You may not know what your dad's current status is, but you may know that he definitely was not a citizen before you turned 18. Whatever the case, I would leave that question blank and attach a letter of explanation. Alternatively, you could say "no" and attach a letter of explanation saying that to the best of your knowledge, he is not a US citizen, but that you can't be sure. You'll probably be asked about this during the interview. This may or may not delay your application depending on whether or not the officer wants to look into it. If you provide them with as much info about dad as possible in the letter of explanation, they may be able to determine his citizenship status even before you get to the interview. That's the only reason I can think of for the question, unless someone else has any suggestions.

Adding My info, I apologize if I didn't do this correctly. I am applyng based on 5 years. I did not send in a copy of my tax transcrips as I didn't see it as a requirement. Can someone confirm this?
