Is California Service Center really fast right now?

It seems to me from playing around with the Timelines that the average time from NOA1 to NOA2 at the California Service Center is around 35-40 days. This seems incredible. Should I believe my lying eyes?

I just got my NOA1 text message that told me that my application was being routed to California, though my location suggests that I should go to Texas. Not sure if this has something to do with a backlog, but I am trying to understand if this is good news or not...

What is packet 3?

Well, I that's how it's labeled on the timeline, I guess, though maybe it's not the best description anymore. I refer to the letter from the Embassy to the beneficiary which contains the directions to apply for the visa. The actual packet is now online.

My I-129 went to California and then on to the Kyiv Embassy.

I got a notification from NVC on March 5. It then took a couple of weeks before there was any news on the case tracking website. I even called the Embassy line and asked some questions, but the lady who answered didn't seem to be very knowledgeable. I wanted to know if the Medical exam could be scheduled before receiving the Packet 3 letter. I also asked about getting the police report from Russia, because my fiance had been calling the Russian Embassy and no one was answering. Turns out the Russian Embassy was actually closed for a couple of weeks. But she finally got through and got an appointment there. But it is also possible to give a power of attorney to someone in Russia so they can get the police report for you, and that is what she is doing now. Also it seems K1 visa appointments in Kyiv are only 3-4 days out, so we haven't scheduled yet, we are waiting until she has all her documents.

Is this packet really necessary for the beneficiary? Or does it just contain the same explanation about needing a medical exam and a police report?

The Embassy will send you a letter telling you they have your application and direct you to the website which tells you everything you need for the interview.

Also, you can not schedule your medical exam until you have received notice from the Embassy that they have your application.

  • 3 weeks later...

People at the CSC are pretty lucky. The TSC is still processing people from Dec 2013. They have a huge backlog. I am one of the unlucky TSC. So with 7 weeks that is super quick if you ask me. Nothing to complain about. Considering it includes background checks etc. Wish I had 7 weeks, means I could move before the summer is over. The way it looks now I won't move until October or later. Which is taking a huge toll on my fiancee who is in the USA getting frustrated and lonely.

We have more fights because of all this and then hearing or reading the time differences it causes her to get stressed and depressed sometimes.

32 days total for me, we just got that NOA2. Incredible. I appreciate how lucky we are given the delays at TSC. Good luck to everyone.
