But if you have the stamps right there in your passport, surely it is proof you did board the plane, or would OP have grown wings?

That what i thought too, i dont have many boarding passes. Ive been to the US 6 times over the past 4 years and have all the passport stamps. When we started dating we had no idea we would want to get married etc so we didnt keep everything we probably should have.
