Importing Car Hassle. Compliance letter from FORD.Help!!!

So I've been researching on how to import my vehicle. It's a Ford Focus. Called ford of Canada to request a compliance letter, they sent me to the dealer, dealer tells me to contact ford of usa, ford of usa tells me to go through ford of Canada, ford of Canada, sent me back to dealer. Dealer finally decides to look into it. No ACTUAL compliance letter, two letters one is EPA standards and the other is NHTSA standards each letter is $75.00 a piece. I called the EPA and they told me it has to come from Manufacturer, well the manufacturer was FORD USA, says so right on my sticker on the door post, So I am lost and have no clue what to do now. Anyone else having difficulties getting compliance letter from ford.

04/04/14 : IV package emailed to NVC(Haven't received ENROLL acceptance yet. but I figured I'd try and see what happens, Did not receive auto reply)

04/17/14 : Received ENROLL acceptance email from NVC

04/17/14 : IV package emailed(Received Auto-reply)

04/17/14 : NVC acknowledges receipt of AOS-notice by email

04/21/14 : AOS approved (No checklist woo hoo, by phoning NVC))

04/21/14 : False check list for IV docs- email from NVC

04/28/14 : NVC reviewed DS-260

04/29/14 : False checklist for IV docs- email from NVC(the second one they've sent me)

Check your stickers under the hood. If you have an EPA sticker, you don't need a letter for the EPA stuff. If you have a sticker saying it complies with FMV or NHTSA standards, you need no compliance letter. If it has a sticker saying it complies with CMV standards, you need a compliance letter for the NHTSA/FMV standards. This is part of the hs799short form which you will fill out. Check 2A if it complies with FMV, check 2B for CMV and attach letter.

I'm having troubles getting a compliance letter. That's the problem. I love in a small town in the sticks, and the next closest dealership is 2 hours away. And my dealership doesn't seem to know what I am talking about.

And I called EPA and the gentlemen told me that even though my car has the EPA sticker(on underside of hood) saying it meets US standards I will still need a compliance for EPA as well as the Safety standards.

I myself have a 2012 Ford focus...went into the dealership...asked for one, paid the $110 after tax, had a faxed letter the next day. You don't need any of those other letters.

Where do you live? sounds like your dealer is just clueless

If they don't know what they are doing, suggest they call the service department at colony Ford in Brampton and ask for andrea.

I live in a small town in northern Ontario, 5000 people max. And YES, these ford people here are very CLUELESS, every time I contact them about anything they have no idea. It's very frustrating.
