MONTREAL—Parti Québécois Leader Pauline Marois ... is leaving open the possibility that the population will never be ready for another shot at independence.

“We have to evaluate whether it is possible to hold (a referendum) and to win,” Marois said in a radio interview Wednesday morning. “I want to win the next time and I want Quebecers to win together so we won't have one if we don't think we can win.”

With polls showing only about three-in-10 Quebecers supporting separation from Canada the raison d'être for the PQ has become its chief liability in this election. After a first week of the campaign that was dominated by Marois and her candidates talking about a referendum, support for the PQ sunk, support for the Quebec Liberal party rose and the political barometer has been changed little in the ensuing weeks.

The Quebec independence movement unfortunately will not die out. They have been whining for over 40 years, have already had 2 referendums and will not let up. Bottom line is they have racist views and there is always a good 30% that will support these views. If they ever succeed, I don't think any instability north of the border is a good thing.

So I hope they fail miserably and Marios is a poor example period! I can say much more but it would not be very nice.

But there will come a time, probably very soon, when there will be mainstream consensus that Quebec secession is just not going to happen barring some unanticipated external event.

Perhaps, but like a bitter nagging wife they will keep at it until a significant majority tells them to stuff it where the sun don't shine. The Feds never had the balls to rock the boat and they just keep coddling Quebec. The Canadian parliament even has a federal opposition party dedicated to the Quebec cause.

Some would refer to all that as treason.

They have still managed to entrench some laws which are objectionable and intend to eliminate anything which does not meet their elite French standards including English schooling. The OLF is one of the most offensive creations with all of their collaborators. They now propose a charter of values which goes against certain human rights. The PQ party are a disgusting group of racists and radicals.

I online game with a lot of Kay-Beckers. They show no reluctance to abandon their cause. Perhaps that is the problem right there - they put too much effort into the virtual world, and not enough effort in the real world. Nous sommes Quebecois!
