Hi Everyone. I know this is a bit late, but I just wanted to say thank you for everyone that has posted in this forum. I have received my green card and am officially a US resident :dancing:

It is only because of this forum that I was able to get the help I needed in knowing the correct forms to file, save on lawyer fees, and to also ease the waiting time by knowing others are waiting with me. To those who haven't heard about their case in a while, my advice is to just keep showing patience. Your time will come too :)

Thank you, once again, VisaJourney forum members!

You'll probably find that tuition will be much, much cheaper after you've lived in-state for a year.

I can't offer any other advice, but congratulations on your residency and good luck with the job hunt!

Thank you GuiseppeG! Hopefully I can find a job soon, my only wish. Yah I need to be instate resident for 1 yr before I can go to school. I finished Bachelor of Science in Accountancy back home but I think most companies looking for American citizen for employment. Best luck for us in here!..

Question, I Believe for a K-! visa packet there is suppose to be a temporary

work permit or temporary green and the customs agent is required to remove

it from the packet along with visa and pass port and give to the visa holder,

can anyone verify this for sure??

when my fiance when through customs the agent did not open the packet

and only pulled the visa and passport out of the corner slot opening.

and if so can the temporary card be retrieved some way??

the port of entry wont return my calls.

has anyone tried call the embassy for help or clarity on what was in the Packet

and how to retrieve something that was not given upon arrival??

please if anyone knows what i can do.

thank you

Brian

No, there is no temporary work permit or card of any sort. Nothing is handed back to you at POE except your passport.

Your fiance can retrieve their I-94 arrival record here. They'll file for their work permit (EAD) with your AOS package after you are married. In the mean time, about all they can do is apply for a social security number. This should be done after 2 weeks from entry to the US and no later than 2 weeks before the date of expiry on the I-94. This doesn't allow employment (in fact, the social security card your fiance receives will explicitly state that) until the EAD is received.

Thanks for the reply. another question so if you apply both at the same time will the

work permit come sooner than permanent residency or do they have to be processed

and delivered at the same time.

thanks

Hi Brian

Yes the EAD (work permit) generally comes before the green card approval.

I-765s are almost always approved within 90 days, whereas I-485s are subject to much more variable factors and processing times.

Can we get back on topic?

So last week I got in contact with my congressman. Apparently the holdup is down to Providence still not scheduling an interview date. Asked to call said congressman back next week if still no results.

"What's yours is mine!"

Congratulations! Great thing to be able to give thanks for.

Did you receive an interview waiver letter, or did you have an interview?
