Our case is still in the Acceptance state...

"On April 28, 2014, your fingerprint fee was accepted and we have mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. Your case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you..."

Did not think it was going to take this long, and did not apply for Employment Authorization(I-765) or Travel Document(I-131). However, I have read that with the travel document is not really pleasant to re-enter the USA.

Hopefully not a lot longer until all of us waiting hear something.

We are on the same boat. Online status still acceptance dated april 21st. I received my ap and ead last june. Btw i just got back from my country using my ap i did nt have a problem going back.

Hi everyone, I'm delighted to say that my GC was approved at my interview yesterday. I just wanted to pass on some advice that might be useful for those of you still waiting. When we were waiting to be called in, my husband noticed that the immigration officer - who subsequently interviewed us - had been observing us through the check-in window for several minutes before he called us in. At this point he seemed to have made up his mind before we even sat down and we probably weren't even in there for 5 minutes.

Something he mentioned that I thought was really helpful was that in anticipation of applying for my 10 year green card in 2016, we should print out all our photos and utilities etc. every three months so that by the time we apply we have a pile of evidence that thoroughly covers the last two years.

I hope this is of some help to you...and good luck :)

Hi Everyone,

I self filed my I-485 on March 2014 and my receipt notice date is 21st March 2014 and I went for interview on the 24th of July 2014 at the Seattle local office with my USC spouse, after which to me I thought went well because the officer told us that we should expect the green card in the mail 2 to 3 weeks from the 24th of July 2014 which hasn't come up till now or the online status changed which has remained testing/interview. I contacted my congressman after numerous calls to the USCIS customer service and going for an infopass to no avail.

This is the response my congressman sent to my email this morning..

In response to my inquiry on your behalf, I have been in contact with and received the following information from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services:

Thank you for contacting U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on behalf of your constituent, .........., regarding his Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (Form I-485). USCIS records confirm that ............case is pending background check clearance. We cannot speculate about when this will be completed.

While USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely manner, we are mindful that our primary mission is to ensure public safety, national security and the integrity of the U.S. immigration system. Some cases have background issues that may impact the applicant's eligibility; therefore further inquiry is required. This may delay adjudication of the application for an extended period. These represent only a fraction of the cases we process.

USCIS realizes that your constituent is concerned about the progress of his case. As an agency, we must balance individual inconvenience against the broader concerns of our mission. Please assure ............ that we are aware of your inquiry, and that this case has not been forgotten. In the meantime, he may be entitled to benefits that serve to mitigate this inconvenience. For example, under Title 8 Code of Federal Regulations section 274.a.12©(9), he may obtain work authorization as long as the application is pending without incurring additional fees.

In regard to his desire to travel outside of the United States, he may wish to review the Form I-485 instructions (pages 6 - 7) for information about the consequences of departure from the United States during the pending of Form I-485. USCIS records reflect that ........did not file an Application for Travel Document (Form I-131) together with his Form I-485. Unless he first obtains an Advance Parole (via Form I-131), any departure from the United States will be treated as an abandonment of his application.

Please I am confused on what this means as I thought this phase was already done before my interview. Should this be something I should be worried about even as I don't have criminal record at all or is it because of my country of origin being Nigeria?

PLEASE I NEED YOU GURUS TO COME TO MY AID. I'M WORRIED SICK

Hi mars2014,

I am not really sure what is happening with your case, I am not that experienced but here are a few things I can tell you: I self filed our I-485 as well. Our case has been in acceptance state since April 28. Have not received interview letter or waiver letter. As far as I know they only do interview after background check is cleared. I am not really sure what happened in your case. But if you are 100% positive you have clean background you should not have anything to worry about! About traveling... You don't have a choice but to stay in the USA until you receive your green card. We have not filed form I-131 either, because I did not think it was going to be such a long process. So you have to wait until you green card arrives. Like I said I am not that experienced with this so this is all I can tell you...

Timeline

Hi guys,

Today we had our interview at Hartford,CT office. Our interview (my husband is USC) was at 11am but were called in at somewhere 11.20. The interview took around 1 and a half. The immigration officer looked nice and professional and walked us to the room. He asked for original birth certificates, passports, marriage certificate. Then he asked for a proof of a relationship. I handed him our photo album, bank account statements since we live with my parents in-low and both don't work we have no bills to pay therefore no utilities bills with our names. He looked through ALL 265 pics in the album and asked questions about who is in pics , some comments and said that he would take some pics for the file, which is fine. Then he looked at our bank statements and asked where we get money from since we dont work. So we said that while my husband is looking for a job now he sold his car and I babysit and doggiesit sometimes. The ISO was or not in a good mood or I dont know. Because anytime we made some jokes or tried to loosen up he would just look at us like we were in interrogation room and there is no room for laugh. After that began the worst. He started questioning my husband. What his full name, my full name, where he lives, where he lived before, where he works. Next question was about his previous marriages. Unfortunately this is his 3d marriage. His 2nd wife also applied for GC and got it in 2009. So the officer started going into all details about his previous marriages, dates , when married when separated, when got divorced. All tiny details. My husband was thinking so hard about dates because who remembers dates that happened 10 years ago. But the officer was so meticulous. I think this what brought a red flag. Then he started questioning me(beneficiary). It all went smooth. Few questions like DOB, address, names of parents mine and his and standard questions about terrorism and communism( which stopped when I was born). After that he took our file and photoalbum and said He would make copies I said I had all copies I could give him but he refused to take by giving me some excuse. While the officer was gone like 10 mins we giggled, talked, almost fell asleep and he returned. He said he doesnt give any decision right now and we should expect it in the mail. Then my husband in a friendly way asked about is it approved or not because we are waiting to get our tickets for our finally honeymoon( but again the officer was like a sourpus and said he cant say anything and we would expect in the mail). After that he handed me a white paper stating like he said just a confirmation that we came to the interview.

The name of the letter is Notice of Interview Results and he checked a box : Your case is being held for review. At this time, USCIS does not require any further info or docs from you. Should further info or docs be required, you will receive a notice in the mail . We may also schedule you for another interview; you will receive a notice in the mail. Otherwise, a final decision will be mailed once your file is complete.

Can somebody tell me if I have to worry about smth?

Sorry guys for a long story :)
