Does it mean one can't get loan or grants for graduate school with just an EAD pending approval and receipt of Green card?!

This is nothing to do with a student loan.

Probably you can try with your receipt or EAD card but to be honest with you, I am not sure.

I strongly recommend you visit a financial aid office in your school and ask them in person. Also, if you are currently an F-1 student, do not forget that show your documents to the international students office. They are going to update your information that you are not an international student any more. After that, you can eligible to apply for financial aids.

I heard it sometimes works. Maybe it depends on schools... so you never know!!

Hope this helps you a little bit! Good Luck :)

I have a tracking number for my ead. My concern is that it went from Kentucky to Knoxville in tennessee . I recently did a change if address from tennessee so I'm worried they've sent it to my old address. Anyone else see the ead go through Knoxville but end up going to another state elsewhere?

Hi vvvVein, looks like our EAD went out together. Yes, mine went from Corbin, KY to Knoxville, TN. Mine is going north to Ohio and it seems to me it went the opposite direction from me at first (and I have had no address change since filing). I wouldn't be too concerned at this point. Plus the card is insured for $100 for what it's worth ;)

I'd advise you to look into the Assistanship programs available for grad students. You may have to repay those grants and aids given to you, but with the Assistanship you will be debt free when you finish with school. That's what I did to get both master degrees. You work for the school and your tuition is covered, you are only required to pay the fees and health insurance. Some departments help with the health insurance too.

Does it mean one can't get loan or grants for graduate school with just an EAD pending approval and receipt of Green card?!

To be able enrolling school, you will need a GC not EAD. Since you are going to study Master which means you cant get Financial Aid from government even you have GC. You can take subsidized loan where you dont have to pay for interest while you are in school.

You can also find Teaching Assistant at your university which they will pay you or give tuition waiver. Good Luck.

New Journey AOS:

My fiancee came to US on the 8th of March, 2014 under K-1 visa at Newark, NJ Airport for POE.

Applied Social Security Number on the 10 of March, 2014.

Married on the 13th of March, 2014.

Sent I-485, I-765, and I-131 on the 15th of March, 2014.

Received EAD on June 7, 2014.

Received Notice of Potential Interview Waiver on July 1, 2014 date 6/27

Contacted Ombudsman on 01/12/2015.

Ombudsman contacted USCIS on 02/20/2015.

Ombudsman sent a follow up to USCIS on 03/18/2015.

I-485 approved on 03/31/2015 ( we ordered your card).

Welcome notice was mailed on 04/01/2015.

Received Welcome Notice on 04/08/2015.

Card was mailed to me/picked up by USPS on 04/08/2015.

Received GC on 4/10/2015.

You don't need a GC to attend school/college. But you will have to pay international rate until GC is presented to school.

Hopefully, I will receive my GC next month :)

Oh you will. Fall semester starts September. Most schools require students to register for classes in August. I'm in a nursing school. So I don't have to worry about registering because school of nursing register for every single nursing students. For general student, it might need to consult with academic advisor/counselor prior to register for classes. Good luck.
