Site performance problems?

I'd imagine that 10am-12pm EST is probably VJs busiest time. If not, then one of the busiest. Is it really wise to run backups then?

I agree it is not ideal and this is being done automatically by the NOC. I am working with them as well to maybe move this window. The issue is that the entire server farm is backed up in order and that process is someone automated so it will take some work to move that window (although I am hoping we can).

I have figured out what the problem is although eliminating it is more difficult (it is the search feature). We also have daily server backups at EST 10am to 12PM. During that time searches place an even greater burden on the server. Sometimes what happens is when the server is busy a seach query can "block the road" so to speak and cause delays. I am working to resolve this so hang in there .

Based on the fact that so many questions get asked over and over and over again, I highly doubt the search function even gets used.

I think the search function is needed for "View New Posts" and "Active Topics".

I had a ISP tech come out twice this month, this site was so slow, I was blaming them. I hope the slow is fixed soon. It's terribly annoying and unproductive.

I'm using tabs on my browser. The other sites work, but this one times out alot. So far, today, I've been on an hour and it's dragging like THE BLOB (the original).

I have set the search function to disable when the server load gets above a certain threshold. I will need to "tune" that limit but I hope that this helps to prevent issues .
