My mother and I, when I was around 16 or 17 , were walking down the street in downtown Ottawa. We passed a park where a lot of landscaping was being done - plenty of workers out doing various projects. It was summer, so I was just wearing a tank top and some shorts. Nothing extreme.

One guy, clearly old enough to be my father, screamed "Lady, if that's your kid, you shouldn't let your sl*t leave the house like that!" to my mom, causing one of his buddies to call me a tease.

It was disgusting and mortifying. I cried the whole way home on the bus.

Oh God Penny, I am so sorry.

As I said, I can't say my own worst, it's too specific about my body and too embarrassing. The guy meant is a compliment and even started with "I don't mean no disrespect" but his compliment was gross... It would have been nice if he were my lover, not a guy at the stop light as I crossed the street in front of him.

I can only imagine. I've had some bad ones but that one was the worst, I guess because my mom was with me and it was just really embarrassing. It made other people on the sidewalk look at me. It made me self conscious for a long time, choosing what I wore based on what comments I thought people could make about certain outfits.

Yep, been there. Still there, really.

Every woman has. Even the so-called ugly ones. Because catcalling and then shouting that you're a dog is still street harassment, and I've seen that before.

There's a reason why the male respondents in the poll at the top are a 50/50 split (albeit with a tiny and flawed sample size) and that 10 out of 10 female respondents feel that this number is accurate.

If there had been a box for 'I feel this number is an underestimation,' I, for one, would have checked it.

Although it is to a lot smaller percentage, men nowadays can also be subjected to being gawked at, whistled at, and called out to by women. Maybe this makes some women feel empowered, but IMO, it's just stooping down to their level.

PM me a slice. What kind is it so I can suffer thinking about how much I want a piece.

Hahaha it is a local pizza place by an Italian man. One slice is a like an inch thick. yummy!

What? ? ? ? I could not imagine this. I could never whistle at a guy. I wouldn't even make the attempt to ask a guy if he liked me. If a guy was shy, he never had a chance with me because I could never ask or mention it even if I knew for concrete sure he liked me.

That is just odd.

I've never seen the point in it. Do some men think if you whistle or holler at some chick, that she's gonna run over there and drop to their knees? Maybe one of the girls here should ask them some time. I'd seriously like to know what they're expecting in response to the immature behavior.

I hear you. I have chicks whistling at me, yelling out what sex acts they'd like to perform with me, etc etc. And then I always wake up at that point.

Well you can always hope that it might happen.

So the thinking might be that if you act like an idiot 10,000 times, that 1 time it might actually work out? I'd bet if it did, the dude probably wouldn't know how to react.

And there we have the reason why when longterm lottery players win, they squander every penny within a couple of years and many end up bankrupt.
