If I feel unsafe or demeaned by what someone says to me when I'm just looking at stuff in Best Buy, or crossing the street to get a coffee, or waiting for a friend at a bar, yeah, that's harassed. I'm on the passable end of the conventionally attractive scale. I'm no stunner, but I don't curdle the milk. I'm also now An Old, having passed a big milestone birthday recently. Yet I guess I must get random comments or leers 4 or 5 times a week. I don't dress "sexy," I don't wiggle my bottom. I walk around with Resting B!tch Face most of the time. But by the mere fact that I am female and in the world, apparently I am making some sort of statement. A statement that says: "Say something tacky that reduces me to my physical appearance and your attraction to me, because heaven knows, it's always been successful for you in the past."

I know you are right.. I was just funning. Flirting is like cooking . You start out slow and turn up the heat unless they stop smiling. It's a good idea to flirt with people you have been introduced to, not just random strangers on the street. Anyone who thinks ladies thrive on street whistling and other 'harmless' comments simply doesn't understand or respect women. It really IS that simple.
