  1. 1. MH370 "ended" in the Indian Ocean, nowhere near any landing sites...

    • It is safe to say that implies a crash.
    • It is not safe to say that implies a crash. There are other possibilities, such as teleportation.

Responding to a question posed during today’s daily briefing, [Acting Transport Minister] Hishammuddin said that claims of the plane having crashed was “totally erroneous”.

“He (Najib) said that based on analysis, Inmarsat and AAIB concluded that MH370′s last position was in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

“He also said that it was a remote location, far from any possible landing sites.

“However, there was no mention of a crash” ... said Hishammuddin.

...

Family members of passengers in the ill-fated jetliner ... had been highly critical of the government’s announcement that the plane had “ended in Indian Ocean”. They want the government to provide them with tangible proof to show that the plane had crashed in the ocean.

God, they are handling this so badly. I distinctly remember them saying there were no survivors once, then they said "maybe" there was a chance of survivors. They change their story all the time.

One should only announce what one knows for sure, in a situation like this. I know they know nothing but they shouldn't just riff as they go along!

They need some serious PR training. What the hell...

My theory about the "wreckage" is that they are in an area of the ocean where all trash floats to, maybe cross currents make some sort of vast eddy, so they are totally looking at the wrong stuff and wasting time. Boo to trash in the oceans, especially of this size...
