A friend of mine just entered us in a contest with a local radio station, mix 98.5. The contest is to email a story of a friend that made you say "she did WHAT???" so she emailed how I travelled across the world against my family and friends' wishes and how I got married to someone from Egypt. If we win we each get $1,000. Can you say airfare???

Hi everyone! Just wanted to see what was happening in MENA today. Still no word on the job promotion, applying at other banks and jobs. Had a nice surprise yesterday morning. My husband woke me up and said "Honey, wake up if you want to go shopping and get you some new clothes for Morocco. My treat!" I was up about five minutes later. He said we would go if I made him toast and hot tea. So we went shopping and I got some really nice clothes and a wicked awesome coat.

Anyway, my hubby was sick all night last night. I guess it must have been something he ate. I was up until 2 making sure he was ok. He stayed home today because his stomach was still upset. Hopefully when I get home he will be better.

Well I have to go finish up a little bit of work to do! Have a great day!

My new swimsuit is on the way. It's black and silver and uber cool looking  Gym going is fun. Tamer and I have been going for about a month now. We do the normal exercise stuff - cardio and weights, and play basketball and soccer. Tamer already has dreams of competing together  It's too bad I suck.

Maybe, just maybe I'll stick with exercising this time around since I have variety. Hopefully I won't get bored!

Can I also just say that I love my husband to bits? We've been living together for almost 15 months now and despite all the bumpy patches (and God knows we have a lot of bumpy patches), I love him more each day.

For those of you still waiting, it's worth it!

I joined a gym last week. It motivates me way more than just doing the Biggest Loser workout at home. The gym I go to has alternate days for men and women. There are two locations near work that have opposite days so I can go all week if I want. Yay!

You are so dang lucky! I wish I had the option of a women's only gym/pool. The YMCA is decent, not too many skimpy dressed workout gods and goddesses, but I'd love to have that option.

I think I'll put Michigan on my list of places to move. How's your public radio out there?

I climbed two flights of stairs today at work. Does that count?? No way do I have time to go to a gym. I'd have no time for my kids at night and they're too young to stay home alone yet.

Is there a Y near your house? The one we go to has free kid watching.

Or, if you'd like, I used to be an avid video fitness exerciser. I can recommend some good dvds :)

MPR is great! Don't forget...Michigan has Dearborn that's a HUGE plus for Arabs and Muslims.

The ladies at my gym mostly wear baggy tshirts and leggings or jogging pants. I'm much more comfortable with that. It doesn't make me feel as bad about my own body :)

The Y or Bally's usually has a babysitting room.

If the public radio sucks, I'm not moving  M(innesota)PR is the oldest in the country and rocks my socks. I don't know what I'd do without my public radio. I'll have to give it a listen to see if M(ichigan)PR is up to snuff ;)

How receptive is the arab community there of egyptians and converts? I got the impression from some people that it's kinda Lebanese cliquey.

Amed just joined the gym so we can go together. It's good motivation for me to have him go, too. Our gym has a full co-ed facility, but a women's only area, too. So, we can do the treadmill together, or I can go to the women's room and do aerobics or whatever and we can meet back up later. So far, it's been really good.

I really wish there was a pool, though. :( However, we recently moved into a condo complex that has a pool, so when the spring rolls around we can go swimming all we want. The way the weather has been here all winter, we shouldn't even have to wait till then!

Hope everyone has been having a good Monday!

There certainly are lots of Lebanese but they have Arabs from many other countries there including Egypt. The larger groups have their own little neighborhoods. The Yemenis have their own since I think they're 3rd in line for the most populous group. It goes Lebanon then Iraq then Yemen. There certainly are Egyptians there. My travel agent is Egyptian. They are VERY receptive to reverts. I'm always treated with a lot of respect.

About Michigan Public Radio...I used to listen to it all day long. It's always very informative and presented nicely.
