my wife needs to go back to her country in a few months to finish K2 visa process for her daughter, and we didn't really expect that green card process will take longer then four months so we didn't apply for AP right away but now is the time :) so have a quick question, in the application they ask for specific dates and duration, we just have approximate date is that ok? and don't really know about duration since it might take up to a month for here to finish everything up there, should I put 30 days, do they care about duration that much? they also ask for country and reason to visit, so what should I write: travel or K2 visa application, do we need to go into details about that? there is also something about writing on a separate sheet about why do you need advanced parole, I kinda didn't get that part, what do they want there?

it's better to put approximate but real dates. for instance if she plans on flying there a month from now, put that date there and indicate one month/30 days. the reason for this is they want to get an approximate date, so that if you put one year, they will know to advice you, for instance, that you have only year to use your AP. they will know too to process it sooner if your application is for an emergency. in any case, your AP will be good for a year so you don't have to worry if you actually leave little later than the date you put on the application. don't write the whole story for the application, just enough info to answer "why" you're applying.

I went through the form one more time and noticed that they have a notice saying that if you are applying for nonDACA related AP you should skip the part about proposed trip details and fill it only if you are DACA recipient, I assume that family based (k-visa) is not daca recipient, is that correct?

also looking at example form on VJ they have no info in proposed trip details, just want to double check if that is correct

Leave the ate and length blank and hand-write Unknown after printing out the form. No explanation/reason is needed when filed with a pending I-485. In other words, you do not have to tell them why you want AP. You also do not fill out the parts about what counties you will visit. Nothing is filled in those parts on the example form because as it states on the form, you skip to part 7.

right, but in part 7 they say explain on a separate sheet of paper how you qualify for advanced parole, there is even an example of supplemental part 7 on VJ, but do they really need that?

For the supplement, in a piece of a paper you write the reason why you want the AP.

You do not have to give a reason and add a supplement sheet. The guides are off on that one, and I have mentioned it to the admin of VJ before, but they chose not to change anything.

If you are applying for AOS at the same time, or already filed your I-485, then no explanation/reason is required, as I stated. It comes directly from the I-131 instructions. See page 8. That OR after #2 is the key. You are filing for AOS at the same time, so no receipt or reason is needed. Many people have filed followed the instructions and not provided an explanation sheet and were approved without issues. AP is routinely approved for adjustment filers. >

c. Advance Parole Document

If you are in the United States, you must attach:

(1) A copy of any document issued to you by USCIS showing your present status, if any, in the United States; and

(2) An explanation or other evidence showing the circumstances that warrant issuance of an Advance Parole

Document; OR

(3) If you are an applicant for adjustment of status, a copy of a USCIS receipt as evidence that you filed the

adjustment application

Well, some people attached the explanation and some didn't, yet they got approved on the AP.

Yes..... Just because you add something that is not required does not mean you would not be approved. The whole point was that it is not required.

And it does not hurt to follow the form instructions and not include one. What is your point, other than to state people need to send in something that is not required simply because 'it doesn't hurt'? It is not required or needed. You will not get any 'extra credit' for including it.
