What exactly do I bring to my AOS interview?

I just received my appointment letter in the mail today. I'm confused about a few things.

1) It asks for a completed I-864 form with IRS printouts for the most recent tax year and a letter from my husband's employer then it says "(unless already submitted)" which we already sent out to them, so I don't need to bring these in again, right?

2) It asks for "original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application. Otherwise, we may keep your originals for our records" what does this part mean? I didn't make any copy of the FORMS we sent out if that's what they mean, I'm so stupid :(

A supporting document is something you sent in addition to your application forms. i.e. marriage certificates, birth certificates, evidence of a bona fide marriage.

They already have your application forms, they are essentially asking for you to bring any originals to show them AND a copy to give to them if they require.

I didn't make photocopies of my actual application forms, just saved them on the computer and figured if they needed them, I would just print them out again. A photocopy of your original application form wouldn't be valid anyways, I don't think, since the form would need the original signature and not a photocopy of the signature.

Thank you! So they want the originals and copies of the marriage certificates, birth certificates etc and not of anything else? Do you know about the I-864, if I need another letter from his employer and his tax transcripts etc?

Did you make a cover-letter for your package? Basically just follow that and bring all the supporting documents you listed, originals (like your birth certificates, passport, marriage certificate, bona fide marriage evidence) AND make another copy of each.

I made a photocopy at the time of my wife's employment letter, and copies of her tax transcripts. I would ask your husband to obtain another letter (even if it says exactly the same thing, or if his work saved it on the computer etc) for the interview, and order the tax transcripts online right now. They only take a week or so to reach you regular mail.

You just want to mimic what you sent in already, and provide copies of it in case the USCIS wants to keep it. In addition, you can bring anything else you have accumulated since you sent your AOS package that could be more proof as to a bona fide marriage. Like if you got a joint lease recently or any more pictures of you two.

I'm basically going to bring two binders to my interview, one with originals, and one with photocopies, to make it easier.

Search the threads, I'm sure there is someone who has a detailed list of what they brought etc. I'm basically going to bring everything I have to do with my case, just for peace of mind.

It is a good practice to bring a copy of the forms. Then, if they say "you answered NO on question XX, you can check and say, "I checked YES!"

It probably won't happen, and they are not going to call you out, but it's wise.

There was a story on here of a guy who went to his interview. When they got there, they said "we are sorry to tell you that your file is not here and we can't do the interview." But, this guy had a copy of his entire package, so he said "I have my file here if that helps." And they said they would use that and do the interview right then and there. He saved himself by being prepared. Epic win for him.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
