thanks for the info :) what if my husband is like planning to have his taxes filed when im already with him with my SS# and willing to pay for like more or less 2 months of penalty. he didn't file for an extension or etc. but he's income is way over 125% of the poverty line. would the W2 and paystubs be enough? or the consulate would really look for it? my man is just sometimes a hard headed guy :) he said he haven't had any problem filing taxes before not until we got married LOL. anyways with our P4 email we didn't even have any checklist etc.

Maybe the CO will ask for the 2013 taxes or maybe not. But why take the chance and potentialy introduce a delay? Especially for something that is easy to do. The extension form literally takes a minute to fillup and if he prefers he can even e-file it too.

If you look at the past interview threads, this is one thing most of them advice you to do. Basically if the interview falls after April 15, the CO might ask you for proof that you filed last year's taxes.

Actually, i've used ur post only as a source to give this information as once u posted here that its showing option of Mumbai emb only. Thanks for correction.

Oh OK. Yesterday itself I gave it another shot as someone i know told me that you can.

As long as your city has a OFC center, you can get it done right there.

Cost of Medical Exam? Varies by Doctor.

It is advised to schedule exam at least a week before interview if going to Medisys in Montreal. Medisys requires 3 days after the exam to get the results back (medical day + 3 more days, weekends not included)

Medisys charges $50 plus taxes anywhere in Canada for shipping the medical by Purolator.

Medical Exam costs for Surrey Office are:

Adults - $275.00, Pregnant Adult - $225.00, Child - $150.00

results can be picked up the following afternoon.

So the answer is YES! I HAVE to pick up my medical 3 days after the exam. Thank you

so if ever I'll tell the truth that he haven't filed any forms with regards with the 2013 tax return and will surely file it once I get there and having W2 and paystubs on my hand they'll still going to ask for it and have the visa issuance delay?

I just don't know why you'd chance it. Filing the extension (or the taxes themselves) is easy, and meets the requirement - you can show them the extension if asked.

However, at this point, if they ask (which is likely because the 2013 filing wasn't submitted to NVC or IRS), you won't be able to show proof, and they won't let "I promise we'll file our taxes" as an excuse - as of today, the tax filing is overdue. There was another person already this year who was told at the interview (even before April 15) that they needed to file their 2013 taxes prior to visa approval.

Possibly. No one will really be able to give you a straight answer on how this would impact your interview.

BTW, the IRS charges a 5% per month for failure to file penalty plus interest (rate fluctuates, roughly 0.5%/month). Based on previous cases, they've been known to assess the penalty on the entire income. Their reasoning goes like this: since you didn't file, we don't know how much you withheld so we are charging you the full amount. Then it's up to you (the taxpayer) to prove us wrong. It's very likely you won't have to pay any penalties in the end but it might cost you $$ (lawyer/accountant hours) to sort out.

I have a feeling you and your husband are hellbent on going forward without the 2013 tax filing/extension. I wish you all the luck :)

Since your husband didn't file his tax,at least bring an extension form to show at your interview. But it's not a guarantee that you will not get a 221-g.. This is the reason why we advised everyone to have their taxes done because it may result to visa delay which is the 221-g.My husband was interviewed last April 3, and it's not even the deadline yet and they asked him. CEAC status shows as IN TRANSIT :dancing: Husband booked his medical for two weeks from today, so London will be ready to add his results to the case when they arrive from Knightsbridge.

Awesome news! Our is too. Unfortunately, my husband can't book his medical this week b/c it Holy Week. Finger crossed all goes smoothly and everythign from now on is just a formality.

just wanna ask again, so your husband didn't even ask for you 2013 tax transcript or W2 or even the tax return form??? its just the updated I-864???

Well the updated I-864 and 2013 tax income form or tax transcript comes as a whole package.so when they asked him for the 2013 tax, he handed the updated I-864 form that I made plus my 2013 tax transcript. They were even surprised that my husband had it. The lady couldn't believe it I guess, that she had to confirm to my husband if it's the year 2013 and she even look at my transcript to double check the year.

I bet she can get it done in Hyderabad. My parents will interview at Mumbai, however, since the facility is available, they will do their medical in Surat, Gujarat. You can directly call/email the embassy and clarify.

Medical is possible at your nearest location but fingerprinting/biometric is available at Mumbai and New delhi only.

I am also from Gujarat and will have medical at Apollo hospital, Surat. But for biometric...need to go mumbai before interview date.

When i first scheduled, i could only schedule for Mumbai coz it would automatically change to mumbai when i select visa type as IR1

Then someone told me that once you are on the page where you select the date from the calender, there is a dropdown that would let you change the VAC location. So i canceled and rescheduled her for Hydro again.

Thank you all. I will report here once we get the IL and get ready to schedule the fingerprinting. Hyderabad will be so much better for her.
