Sorry you have me confused now lol

Let me explain. My wife filed as single back in January because she was given incorrect advice and was told there was no way to file as married. So she filed her 2013 tax returns as single in Jan. We then found out that we HAVE to file as married and filing single when married is illegal with IRS. So we are amending to Married Filing Separately and putting NRA (non-resident alien) in the SSN box. This is correct as things stand and as I said it cannot under any circumstance be single. It may not be a problem in terms of immigration interviews but it could be a huge problem if IRS found out the status was incorrect.

What do you mean we have to amend again soon? Are you talking about when I get a SSN? Surely this can wait until 2014 returns as during 2013 I never had a SNN.

True but its already filed and well honestly 99% of folk file Single during immigration. It's only brought up alot because some people have drawn the ire of the CO (I know a few people at Lagos only) the CO made them amend their taxes . Never have I heard a denial. Have heard questions why, but the CO's know what we are told by IRS and accountants. Not like we trying to hide we are married.

I was merely thinking saving steps. Since she will be amending taxes once you get here I would assume. Maybe get more money back. I know for me its a difference of me owing ($1650) filing MFS and me getting back ($2800) filing MFJ so you can imagine I will be amending 2011, 2012 and now filing 2013.

Uh Oh checking in here - My Wife's interview is on May 29th.

I have filled as single and got my return etc, as per everyone's suggestion that I consulted. This will not hold up the interview / immigration process right?

Are interviews typically rigorous in nature? Or it is all a huge luck of the draw.

Regarding the medical test, what is sputum test, it looks expensive, is it mandatory. Bombay us embassy had it on their medical circular.

I agree but according to May bulletin, there will be retrogression. I am also worried. I called yesterday, they said we have completed first slot for may and we can not guarantee interview in second slot. looks like intentionally they are not scheduling F2A people. most of the IR people who got CC after us already have interview date.
