Luck of the draw with operators I think, some are much more inclined to be helpful than others. On Monday I spoke to Jim who is both extremely nice and well-known around VJ for giving above-and-beyond information. I asked if London was still scheduling and he informed me that the "first round" was done, so I naturally questioned what that meant :D I might call once more just to see if they'll tell me when a second round would occur, if it does.

So what does it mean that the "first round" was done? I am assuming "first round" is done for India as well.

Is that for beneficiary's passport delivery after visa approval. If yes then that is supposed to be Indian address.

Hello,

I am trying to schedule the fingerprint for my wife in new delhi

In step 5, i have a questioin regarding the mailing address/pick up for returned documents.

All returned documents will be sent to the address selected below. it is asking for a mailing address so should I put my wifes india address or my USA address?

then the following page (specify documentation delivery) ask for the closest city office where all returned documents will be sent too..................am confused.

thanks,

So what does it mean that the "first round" was done? I am assuming "first round" is done for India as well.

Likely so, scheduling started a week and a half ago, I would guess most consulates are done now. I'm not sure what conditions would trigger a second round of scheduling, but I would guess having a bunch of reschedules could be one factor. Looking at past months on the spreadsheet here it seems like smaller batches are given interview dates around mid-month. Maybe we'll get some lucky runner-ups in this thread that make it into a second round :)

Greetings to all VJ members from Bangkok!

I would like to ask something, we have responded to our checklist re our civil docs to NVC, already received and logged in to their system. I asked our lawyer for a copy of my divorce decree translation (translated in the US). When I read it i saw a mistake, my ex husband's name is Suchai and not Surachai, would I get another checklist for that. I hope not. I think it's a minor thing, the translator just added "ra" to the name.

Thank you and have a great day/evening to all!

Hi all

Just a quick question for those who know about taxes. My wife is filing as 'married filing separately ' and putting NRA is the SNN box. She wants to know if this changes her exemptions? I think not but she wanted me to ask you guys.

Cheers

"MFS" is pretty much the same as filing "Single". Since she is married, she cannot put down "single". MFS does mean that she won't get as much refund as she would have gotten if she filed "Married Filing Jointly".

If possible, she can just file an extension and then file the taxes once you are over here. Thats what I did and now I have until Oct to file my tax return.

Hi Hunnymoon,

Wow you and your husband have an even better reason for an earlier date than us - I hope you get an earlier date. As to how I contacted them I tried all the numbers I could find and couldn't get to talk to a human at all. So I conceded and sent an on-line form that they have to request an earlier date. It says they will get back to you within 5 working days which for us is this Friday - I haven't heard anything yet. Here is a link to the form I completed on-line - it may be the one you have seen - but I would fill it in, submit it and see what happens.

London US Embassy Contact Form

Good Luck.

Thanks much! I did come across this form in my search but wasn't sure if I should go ahead and use it - but since you did, I might as well tell my husband to give it a go as well! Let me know if and when you hear back and I'll keep you updated as well too! Thanks again and good luck :)

Thanks for the answer. She is not worried about the refund amount. Plus we need to show 2013 taxes at the interview. She just wants to know if she still has no exemptions when filing MFS. Anyone know?

Hey Saylin (or anyone else who may know).

I have an urgent tax related question. If anyone knows the answer it would be a massive help!

My wife is filing a 1040x amendment for her 2013 tax return because she was given incorrect advice by IRS back in January when they told her to file as single as I dont have a SSN. She is changing it to Married filing separatley.

Here is the 1040x form http://www.irs.gov/p...-pdf/f1040x.pdf

When I put NRA (non resident alien) in the SSN box is it ok to leave spouses name blank?? It says "if joint return, spouses name"....

This is a separate return so leads me to believe the name part has to be left blank.

If anyone knows the answer, please let me know!

Many thanks
