All right, I called NVC today and found out case complete was yesterday... woohoo! I also asked if London is still scheduling for May and she said yes. Looks like another UK member had case complete 4 days ago and got an interview for the 30th. I'm officially on the edge of my seat! Dwheels, with all the months of interviews you've borne witness to, any input on whether we should have a shred of hope for May? I'm solidly planning on June but we're just so dang close. It's driving me nuts thinking there's a possibility!

Husband's medical is scheduled for this coming Monday and then the interview on the 15th, and now I'm as excited and nervous as a cat in a thunderstorm. (I'm the US citizen and petitioner)

I'm wondering if he needs to take paper copies of the stuff we initially sent to the USCIS a million years ago (actually one year and 17 days ago), like the g-325a forms for us both and a copy of my birth certificate and driver's license, all that kind of pre-NVC stuff?

We have a list of things in the interview letter that are all covered, all about him (the immigrant). But should I go way back with copies of other things from USCIS for him to bring as well?

you should check the local consulate website about this. different consulates have different requirements.

Hello,

trying to schedule fingerprint for my wife. is there any difference between these two categories?

CR1- conditional IR1 spouse of US Citizen

and

IR1 spouse of united states citizen....

I am assuming is the first one that I have to select?

If you'll have been married for less than two years when she comes to the US, it's CR1. If longer than 2 years, IR1.

Guys/gals,

Here is my dilema...I haven't filed my taxes for 2013 yet. My wife's interview is may 16th. If I file my taxes as a single i owe IRS $1000+ and If i file married jointly (Putting her as a NRA) I'm getting a return of $5000+. Can I get away with filing jointly? I sent out the extension requests for the taxes today.

I don't believe you can legally file jointly without your spouse having an ITIN. You'd have to file for the ITIN or file 'Married filing separately' and then use NRA for her tax ID.

03/26/2014 Received a checklist regarding the birth certificate. This was previously provided in an email. Investigating what was wrong with the birth certificate.
03/26/2014 Called the NVC and was told this was likely because we accidentally submitted a "short form" birth certificate rather than a "long form", but we knew that wasn't the case.
03/26/2014 Wife called back to NVC and they told her that it was because the form was "too decorative". The lady on the phone told her to wait 25 days as she'll forward it to a supervisor.

From what Im reading there it seems ok right?

Can anyone back me up?

What I have seen others do is to apply for the ITIN and put that on the 1040.

Or, just wait to fill out the taxes after you get the ITIN as you already have filed the extension.

To be clear, YES you are allowed to file Married Jointly even if your spouse is abroad.

HI all,

while I was reading the interview letter I came across this statement regarding the police report. The police authority just handed over the police certificate to my wife..... so are they suppose to send it directly to the Embassy? pls see statement below.

under "required Visa interview documents and documents status code definiations

code- P

"You must request this police certificate from the issuing authority. After you submit your

request, the issuing authority will send the certificate directly to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

for your interview."

In my P4 I find Code O The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate for PASSPORT POLICE CERTIFICATE

Code F The NVC did not request this form or document for INDIA POLICE CERTIFICATE

Is your police certificate from a different country?

For India you need only Passport Police Certificate one original to be submitted to NVC and another original to be taken to Mumbai consulate for interview. My wife said she received 3 originals from Passport Seva Kendra.

I was planning on having my wife show a filled 1040 that I would file jointly. For interview purposes would it better to have it filled out filing jointly or single.
